View Full Version : Any cheap way to reduce turning radius?

After driving an '89 Si for 13+ years, the turning radius of the EP3 is a real shock. It feels like I am driving an SUV or a huge ass truck. I actually have to do three-point turns now. :(

Are there any "cheap" mods to the suspension that will shorten the EP3's turning radius?

And also, what is the turning radius of the EP3? How does it compare to say an Escalade or any other huge gazz guzzling SUV?

dunno how we compare to Escalades and other GraveDigger trucks, but I know our radius is tighter than that of a 95 GSR. Whenever my friend's GSR needs to make a U he has to bust a 3-point where I can just bust a quickie.

I guess I was just spoiled with the EF.

Turning diameters:

'90-91 Prelude Si w/4ws... 31.5'
'95 Si................................. 32.1'
'89 Si................................. 32.4' <--- my good ole' days :D
2002 Honda CRV .............. 34.1' <--- an SUV out turns the EP!!!!
2002 Toyota Corolla ......... 34.2'
2002 Sentra ..................... 34.7'
2002 HONDA CIVIC SI....... 34.8' :'(
2002 Ford Focus .............. 35.8'
2002 Ford Explorer ........... 36.7'
2002 4Runner .................. 36.7'
2002 Acura RSX ............... 38.1' <--- jesus... what happened there?
2002 Escalade ................. 39.3'

I really can't believe that the difference is only 2.4'. I guess thats what happens when Honda punks out and goes away from 2x wishbone suspension. Bastards!@!%#$ They took away some of that Civic charm.

ok the 2002 CRV has the same suspension design as the civics so why does it have a smaller turning radius. I bet it has to do with alot more than the suspension. It probably has to do with packaging in the engine bay and the wheels interfering with that packaging.

I don't know much about radius geometry and stuff like that, but I remember my girl's CL3.0 used to have the worse turning radius I've ever felt in a car, we had to do like a 5 point :D
