I just can't be fucked rolling fenders or running any kind of aftermarket camber. I recognize that as lazy, but I wouldn't be buying wheels in order to make some kind of statement, prepare my car for any performance events, or experiment with aftermarket fitments. I'd be buying them because I like them. I don't really mind my 6.5 or 7 inch wheels right now.

Yeah I'm set on 17s and I think the offset on tirerack was 45 but I figured 3 mm probably wouldn't have a massive effect. I'm a 16's kinda guy but I recognize that RPF-1's "run small" in the sense that they look smaller. I just don't really give a shit about width. I like nice tires, but I don't feel the need to have more contact area or anything. I'd rather they just fit nicely and not cause me a bunch of grief when dropping the car or something.

8 at least, i got 8s now and I really want to go 9s, i probably will later. The 9s just have a much more nice looking face than the other sizes under it.

My current alignment is
camber F-3* r-1.5
Toe f-1* r0
caster +2.6 (not that you can do much about that)

You wont rub if you go with 245's up front. Also depending on your offset in the rear you can run 235's But you could at least run a 245 in the front and keep the 225 in the back.

I have thought of this already but have not tried it yet. I'm almost convinced that a 255 is possible in the front for sure but i wouldn't go any bigger out back. The only reason im not staggering is because i use my car as a daily about 90% of the time, so i wanted to be able to swap wheels around to make my tires last. If i was a track whore like a used to be many years ago my ideal set up would be a 255 in the front and probably the same as Gaurdian in the back and run a 235.

my post was a joke kids dont cry to much now lol

I try to run more camber in the front then the rear just to balance it out. I've had -2.8 to -3.2 in the front and they fit fine. The rear i had it at -2.6 and it rubbed a tiny little bit on the top of the sidewall, but it was hardly noticible (nothing to worry about). I also run 245's all the way around and my current camber setings are -3.2 F and -2.8 R.

Did you get that much front negative camber just from your coilovers adjustable upper plates or did you also have to add camber bolts to increase it?

Enkei RPF1 Crew holla!

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/4964758634_2137a21d9b_b.jpg

Wheel Specs:
Bright Silver, 17X7, 5X114.3, +45 MM offset

Lug Nuts:
Blox Street Series forged/extended open end (black color)

Tire Size:
215/45/17

Fenders:
Rears have been rolled by Mach III, fronts are stock and pose no threat since there is more than enough clearance.

*I decided to run a safe offset, in my opinion it looks cleaner than most of the cars i see running "HellaFlush"/poke/mexipoke/etc. Now if i have a RWD car then staggered/aggressive set-up for sure. The rear fenders have been rolled since my car is dropped enough that the tires can hit the rear fender during bumps/dips.

*Also from a visual stand point, RPF1s run on the small side due to a prominent lip. Ie. 18s look like 17s, 17s look like 16s and so fourth. I opted for the 17s since im a fan of 17s on EP3s and people always comment on how they look like 16s...which is fine cause 16s and 17s are what i like on the EP3. 15s are to dinky and 18s are to donky.

P.S. The car has hubcentric rings to minimize vibration at high speeds ie when im traveling at 150+ MPH.

Close but clears lol... I have never rubbed even when hitting hige dips and bumps where the tire tucks under the fender. Note that when the rear is compressed it will actually add camber. I think you should be fine with only 3mm difference. I'll give it a gander tomorrow to check.

Ok just checked. I think you will have penty of room. The only thing that is somewhat close is the plastic shield for the gas tank fill tube or whatever its called. But even that has what looks like more than 5mm of a gap (at least on my current set up). There is more room however from the tire to the shock area.

I wouldn't go any wider then a 245 in the rear no matter what. It's already maxxed out IMO with the size. If you were going to track the car and don't really care i would pull the fender in the rear and custom mod the inside fender to fit a bigger tire otherwise jsut run a 245. I know that that Jstoneracing guy from UK ran 9's all the way around with 255s but his fenders were pulled pretty far. Dude ran -5 in the front and around -3 in the back.

I know that that Jstoneracing guy from UK ran 9's all the way around with 255s but his fenders were pulled pretty far. Dude ran -5 in the front and around -3 in the back.

ahh i see, i see. thats son crazy camber haha and i though we had alot. oh well.

I believe so, and like 40 bucks cheaper per rpf haha. I'm meeting up with some kid to get a 5 lug swap tonight so I'm exploring my options with "real" wheels. I have a set of stock 5 lug ep3 wheels for now. Its just that you 17x9 guys are 4x4 status (no offense) and the one ep that gave me the idea for this fitment is slammed (17x8.5 +32 work xd9s). Obviously stretched tires, but minimal negative camber. Basically I just want to get low and stretch tires on light wheels, then have the option to just raise her up and throw some good "proper fitting" tires on if my car ever makes more then 140whp hahaha.

Well yeah if your going for looks only then i guess you can be as low as you want. And 5 lug is nice, it really opens the door to basically any wheel of choice.

But remember that a good set up car and a good driver can make that 140whp look like its got 300whp .:mwink:

Yeah you can go low with camber and stretched tires for sure, but if you wan to still be somewhat low (tire almost at the same hight as the fender) with a track set up it wont work out unless you raise it a little bit in the rear. We just simply dont have the room to be low and run wide tires on our cars (thats basically why my car is at the hight it is right now). I went as low as i could and ran as little camber in the rear as possible and the car handles great.
So unless you are willing to raise it a little you will have to settle for a staggered setup.

NO! I have them in a +35 which is closer to the shock then a +22 would be. The lower the number the further the wheel sticks out from the center hub part of the wheel.

Quick question Rob.

17x9 25mm offset? I know it will fit, but I hate the Hellaflush look because of the excessive negative camber in the rear. How much camber would I have to run in the rear if use them? Obviously, I'd have to roll my rear fenders either way.

*What I'm saying is, I want something functional and daily drivable if needed.

27rocks
01-27-2011, 11:44 AM
Im at -2.8 in the rear right now with my +35's and 245/40's and -3.3 in the front. Those are going to stick out 10mm more then mine do so even if you get stretched tires you will still need at least that much camber to be in the clear. Also your drop is a huge factor as well...
Honestly though the best set up for dd and looks and even function would be to go with a 17x8 +35. Those look so good imo with a nice 235 on there. The only draw back is the wheel design at that point which i personally don't really like.
If you can get the 9's in a +35 and run 235's or even 225's you can run a little less camber then what i run.

Thanks, hmm maybe i should have went 17x8. I have 17X7 +45 with 215/45. I wasnt sure if the 17X8 would fit....cause when i look at my rear passenger side wheel it looks like the inner part of the rim is already so close to the LCA.

Haha, well yea.. it fits! I was originally looking for 16x8 with a lower offset, but I found a DEAL on these and I don't regret picking them up one bit.

super random, but what's the percentage of your window tint?

I have no idea, sorry. The tint was the only mod the previous owner did to it.

EDIT: If it helps, I did get pulled over once for my tinted windows.. but luckily I just got a warning/heads-up.

17x9.5 +30

I know it will fit, with actually 2mm more clarence on the inside as opposed to 17x9 +38 which I was told is the highest offset you can fit.

BUT what about adding 3-4 degrees of negative camber, will there be issues?

Gracias!!!! :mcool:

You get the exact same thing just with a little better fit. Meaning you can still have it look the same (flush hellaflush or whatever the kids call it these days) but wont have to run as much camber to squeeze on the rear. 13mm doesn't sound like much but trust me its quite a lot for the rear.

I don't see why you should get the +22's.They already stick out with the +35 with no camber, so it would be a lot better on tire wear if you didn't have to run as much camber as you would with the +22's.

Yeah but we're on 245's which need a lot more room to fit in the rear. With 215's like hes planing he will most likely be close to -3.

Rpf1s have a big lip so 16s are often mistaken for 17s so either one looks great IMO

Thanks, Yea im planning on getting rid of these rubbers its too thin for me too. I probably gonna get some 215/50's or 55's. these tires are still almost brand new. I dont know about the drop because i dont really like my car too low. I did have it at 2" all around but not my style. Im on HP tokico/tein s tech now. and i like the setup.

If not I think 235/40 fits nicely. Guardian had that set up for a while

Hahahahaha

Look at it this way.. They aren't really JUST looks, they are a legit racing wheel, many people use them on their time attack cars. They are an investment, considering that you keep them in decent condition and don't run in to curbs.. They can always be re-sold for about what you paid for them (minus tires of course, but that's just general wear and tear that can't be avoided). Na mean? :)

ep3jd
03-16-2011, 01:05 PM

Not to mention it will be more gas friendly since they are lighter then most wheels, so its rotating mass is less. Also easier on brakes and suspension. What else??? lol

I just think they're getting played out (as much as I absolutely love this wheel) and I also don't want to get flamed for stretching tires on legit race inspired wheels.

Who cares about played out??? I have only seen about maybe 3 cars with them on in person the 3+ years i've had mine, but thats not the point. The wheels are fantastic in both weight durability and price compared to forged wheels (which i guess you can say are played out as well). Buy the wheels for what they are not for who has them or who doesn't. That would be like saying the Ep is played out on this forum lol
