View Full Version : 17x8s in the rear with 0 camber?

17x8s, 235/40 tires

Has anyone done it? Offset? Drop? Rolled?

From what I've read I think it's possible but it'll be tight - just hoping someone can confirm.

sure but your gonna need alot of camber, 225's might be a better looking fit, if your just going for looks

17x8 +42 225/45 bridgestone re11, just under 1.5" drop, -1deg camber, rolled fenders. I clear fully even with a heavy load in the back but it's very close. Another thing you gotta watch for with a wide tire is clearing the trailing arm. Keep in mind a 235/40 will be even wider but slightly shorter at the same time, so you do the math.

at ~1" drop, +35, and rolled rear fenders, you should be able to fit without crazy camber.

Agreed.I just don't know about those 235/40 tires though.

the 235/40's have a lot smaller of a sidewall than people think. 225/45's are waay taller.. 215/45's have a more similar sidewall to the 235/40...

really the question should be, what is the setup that the op has?

if we simply answer the question, yes 17x8 w/235/40/17 will fit. i have no doubt about it.

honda freak has/had that setup, but hes at stock height.

I'm lookin at 235/40R17s all the way around because this is my DD and I want to be able to rotate, plus the wheels I'm trying to get have more offset selection in the 17x8s.

My current drop is about 1.5" on sportlines. Related question - these springs are relatively wide (coil diameter), would a wide wheel with high offset hit my springs before the lower control arm?

225's werent in their "book" of tire sizes they can install on various cars. like you said, 225's are a little tall, so maybe that's why. 235s were in there AND they were a couple bucks cheaper.

No, the 224/45 has a smaller side wall then the 235/40 and the 215/45 is even smaller.

225/45-17 - 3.99in
215/45-17 - 3.81in
235/40-17 - 3.7in

I don't even know why I thought that I've had both size tires and the 225/45 side wall were huge
