I dont want to create waves, or get people mad.

Why is there no threads moved, or people being corrected about posting engine pulley torque specs in the ep discission section. we have engine, tranny. suspension section for "technical" questions. i see a few threads right now that should be in there and are not.

It just seems like everyone that has questions just keeps posting in the ep discussion.

is there any rhyme or reason to it? is there anything i can do to help? can i be a mod, can i move all the threads to their correct locations and PM/reply to the threads that its in the wrong spot?

here are few i think are in the wrong spot and should be moved to suspension, interior, engine, etc.

http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?59422-Heater-problem-need-help.
http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?59469-2005-EP3-threw-a-CEL-(P0420-catalyst-system-efficiency-below-threshold-bank-1)
http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?59445-Torque-Spec-For-Idler-Pulley
http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?59414-Ugh-Front-camber-help-plz!
http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?59174-type-s-rear-sway-bar
http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?59234-Seized-rear-strut-bolt-Pain-in-the-A**

just frusterating. this is such a good site but things are hidden...ep discussion is for things like how old are you ep owners, check out my new shit, look at the mugen ep..etc etc.

technical stuff should be in its respective location.

and i do get it, there is only so many times you can correct someone, or move things and plus new people. but if you keep doing it then eventually the regulars will help out and eventually it will be a good functioning website with great info in the correct spots.

:yeahthat:

i hate to say it but i agree. i've been on this site for a few years now (~5 years now) and it seems like the mods/admins are more lax than ever. i know that some mods/admins have held their positions since i've joined the forum. it's natural that as the years go by, they get older and have more responsibilities in their own personal lives and have less time to spend on the hatch. i totally understand that they are people w/ lives like everyone else.

I agree the EP discussion isn't being used properly. People are making multiple member's rides threads. i admit i have 2 for my 2 different ep3's but i can think of one member who has five from this year alone for his one ep.. The DIY section should be for questions on How-to's. The DIY section should only have DIY's. THE FS section has threads where people violate the rules (post count/pics/obo/etc). Unnecessary thread are being made and wasting bandwidth, what;s the best oil? or what's the 'best' suspension? will my hfp kit fit my 02? i know the search feature isnt the best, but users could browse through the individual sub forums for their answers instead of cluttering things up and wasting bandwidth. i've gone through entire subforums just to find an answer when the search feature didnt find what i was looking for

if the mods/admins don't have enough time, i don't think it would hurt to add a few more mods who would just help clean up/regulate the forum, even temporarily. i know thread will get more attention/help in the EP discussion sub forum, but it's really get annoying when members esp those who have been on the site for a few years knowingly break the rules without any repercussions

I think Mods need to get together, and take a look at how http://crxcommunity.com/ is handled and the sub forums and stickies are setup. at the top of each section they have a sticky with all sorts of awesome info, links etc.

We should model the site after http://crxcommunity.com/. it would be awesome. i would love to help. granted im an extremely busy person but i could make time for it.

ill prune em...GIMMIE TEH POWAH! :mmad:

on a serious note...is there anyway we can do a newb thing like epcivic.com does? (to be able to post in different sections/threads you must make a members ride..im thinking do something like that and have a specific section dedicated to them where we could post up things like usedep3s FAQ and get less repeat questions)

thank you for the thread post and i also agree... i have noticed a lax in our current staff and i have addressed this issue before to try and get things moving. I am going to have to have a discussion with the moderators that are in charge of these sections and find out why these things are NOT being done.

its members like you guys that make this site so great, thank you.

If everyone goes and takes a look at CRXCommunity.com and see how they are structured it makes perfect sense...look at it, they have it laid out awesome. it worked great. i was a contributing member on there for a while

but i will offer up some help if you need help, let me know

Thank you Import!

I moved the threads, hopefully to the proper place.

I would not say it is the mods becoming more lax. It is more or less the amount of time spent on here. I wish I could be on more than I am. I only get on when I am visiting my parents. I do not have internet at my house yet and I am nervous about getting on ephatch while I am at work. I have found myself not on as much as I used to be. Graduating college, working full time with my career job, buying a house, and not having internet does take up more time. The amount of hours spent on the site before graduating could have been used to study more. LOL.

I do spend some time cleaning up what I can and moving things when I see them and answering PMs when I get on. I hope once I get internet hooked up at the house, I can spend time on here...instead of reading! :-)

I noticed a suggestion for having stickies, we do, it is the VERY first thread in each applicable section.

Yeah, I have a habit of just hitting new posts and not paying attention to a threads location some of the time....

i know, but i said we should have stickies formatted like the ones on CRXCommunity. Things with all newbie info compiled into awesomeness. if you look at crx community you go to stock garage and the stock garage faq- its got all stock faq's,...then the mod garage has the same thing at the top. swap info, transmission questions etc.

There are no excuses. You're are right. ALL the mods seem to have been slacking this Fall. Hell, I can't tell you the last time I have saw a couple of them actively even posting. Life gets busy, and we all know this. It's probably time to add a couple of yellow Noob mods on or turnover a couple of us. It's always good to give new fresh minds a chance to help out on the forums. You should PM Mary about becoming a moderator (talking to Import).
Personally, the months of September and October keep me too busy with crush and our tourist business being up 10-17% on a daily basis. I just don't have time for the forum. As soon as November swings around, business dies off quickly here.

I'm guilty of not posting enough. I read the forum every morning while I eat breakfast... but often it's a matter of browsing classifieds for infractions (which are MANY some days), which leaves me no time to post or to sort threads from the ep discussion. I've never been as busy as I am this year... since last March life has been WAY too busy. Right now I've got work to do... probably 6 hours tonite, then two 12-14 hour days this weekend. I might catch up by Christmas... Anyway, enough :mcry: from me!

Thanks to the members who give constructive critisicm. Your feedback is respectable, appropriate, and true! I will put some more attention into the organization as a result.

I created a new sticky thread called "Report Problems Here" in the member introduction and site questions forum. The only other one we have is one in EP discussion that had the original intent of finding site glitches, not so much for rule violations. I'm sure we used to have a thread for reporting issues, but I think it disappeared in a crash. Anyway, here is a link: Click here to report problems.
