View Full Version : which is the check engine light?

hey whats up ephatch, i woke up this morning warmed my car up before work and when i turned on my defrost the light that looks like an alternator turned on, is that my check engine light or something else im at work now and didnt have time to look at my owners manual because i was running, my question is what is that light, and what could it be if it that is in fact my alternator, could it be my battery?

that is the uh-oh light

in your owners manual it will show you what lights are what on the "instrument panel" part.

bottom left is engine check engine light (CEL)... battery is the one with the + and - in what looks like a battery.. oil is the lil tea pot pouring oil

go to an autosupply store and get the code read, that way we can help. did you install any new mods recently?

No..no new mods i just brought the car a week ago, the previous owner did tell he put in a rsx types cat in, but other than that its stocks ima go to autozone after work and see what it is,

At least where I am, the governator passed some law where DIY shops can't read the code for you anymore :/
Autozone, Kragen, O'reillys, etc.
They have to be full trained mechanics to opereate the machinery. (the obd2 scanner thing box)

But shops can do them, like Pepboy's I beleive

go to one of those shops and get the code read.
