I have an k24 sitting in my garage that Im planning on swapping in my car in the next month or two and was wondering will it seize up just from being in storage like that. The motor has oil in it already, should i have the crank spun occasionally to circulate oil or it should be fine the way it is. thanks

why not just drain the oil before it gets bad?

all yu have to do is keep as much moisture away frm it as possible and draining it would be a good idea but not neccessary

i was thinking that draining the oil would leave the motor dry and prone to seizing, anyone else care to give insight on engine storage thanks

I wouldn't drain the oil ... but you can buy motor storing lubes.

Do not drain the oil..leave the oil in it and turn it over by hand every once and while for a few minutes to get oil circulation throughit. and do it right before you start it for the first time once you swap it. dont let it get what. make sure every open whole ( thermostat housing intake ports exhaust ports etc) are all covered from critters and moisture getting in there. dont let it get extremely hot and cold a bunch of times as this will build condensation.

common sense. keep it in a safe dry spot.plug all the holes, keep oil in it, and turn it over by hand every once and while.

personally i change the oil before the first start up too.

I've heard from some of the classic car guys that they take out the plugs and spray some Sea Foam Spray (http://www.seafoamsales.com/sea-foam-spray.html) into each cylinder, turn the motor over a few times, and change the oil/filter before storing it.

I heard the same...no need to spray down there though... some folks like to use Mystery Marvel Oil as well. in the oil to get it to turn over easier

will adding oil to the cylinder thru the spark plug holes foul the plugs or have any problems during start up due to oil being in there?

here what i found on http://www.porschenet.com/winter.html

Here's an engine storage procedure from Klaus Fischer at Amalfi Racing. He and his friends at the Porsche Museum in Germany use this for their historic Porsche race cars:
Take out spark plugs
Spray WD 40 into cylinders
Spray WD 40 into air intakes
Turn over the engine by hand with wrench a couple of times
Every three months repeat above (Spark plugs stay out of engine)
Also every three month turn wheels, or move car into different location to change the wheel bearing position
As well shift into one gear and move gear box internal around
Every six month drive the car!
