I was just wondering, do you guys think the EP3 is capable of hitting one million miles? Ie Chassis succumbing to fatigue/stress, etc. And if it did, would the odometer roll over? I plan to keep my EP3 till judgment day/till i die (which ever comes first).

For those part of the mile high club (100K+), post up how many miles you got and if you think your EP will be rolling with the last of the EP3s...

take care of the motor and the car and she will take care of you.

i do think you will have a motor swap or two before you get to the 1 Million milestone.

Why do people make threads like this?

maybe because there is nothing new and exciting since the cars are 5 - 8 years old

300K on the 02', 1 engine swap, but the a3 was still internally perfect at 140K.

If you drive and maintain the car like a grandma/anal retentive type, you could get to 1million miles, but I doubt the average EP3 would get 1/4 that life.

i agree... 250k is the majic number, give or take a few on the engine. chassis i would say should hold up for more than that.

i keep my trip meter on by default instead of my odometer, that way im not aware that im racking up total miles, just miles for my current gas tank :)

but im at 62.5k miles and its working perfectly fine -- im actually "experimenting" with it by driving sensibly and seeing if my MPG would have a dramatic increase -- lo and behold, im at 265 miles now on this tank and my low fuel light still hasnt come on, although im certain by the time i get home today it will -- if it holds up, im gonna get about 27-28 mpg on 80% city 20% hwy, an improvement over 23-24mpg

.. off topic sorry, but i do love my EP and i'll have no problem keeping her until a million miles and a k24a2 swap later

I love these threads!
I just turned over 195,500 on the original A3, 2003 model. Been running basic bolt-ons for the last 2 years or so, with an HFP suspension and some other suspension mods.
She's still running strong. Picked up some squeaks and rattles in the chassis over the years, and some extra ticks in the engine (fuel injectors sound like jackhammers these days :nervous:).
I plan on swapping some day, but no set date or anything.
I think a well taken care of EP has at least 300k-500k in it, assuming a new motor at some point.
The only real problem I'm having with her is a tendency to burn some oil, but I'm pretty sure a new valve cover gasket set will clean that right up (think it wasn't quite cleaned and prepped last time I did a check on the valve lash. Oops!)

im at 130k, still running strong. I don't think I could reach 1 million miles in my lifetime, maybe my son could do it for me.

I had a friend in HS that inherited his dad's 85 accord hatch in 2004. His dad bought it new and drove it for 280k miles. My friend drove the car for a week and wrecked it. I'm at 95k. My first Honda with less than 140k on the clock.

My '03 had about 160,000 miles when I traded it in in 2007. It was pretty beat up, but nothing that couldn't be replaced/rebuilt. I intended to keep it forever, but then we had twins (so three kids total), so the ep had to go, at least for a while. I had major issues with the steering rack. If I still had it today, I'm pretty sure it would have an RSX-S fluid rack in it now. I drove the crap out of this car and found it to be as durable as any honda I'd ever owned, minus the rack. I miss it. I'm sure it could go 1 million miles, but the reality is you'd be replacing a lot of parts along the way (as you would with any car). Most people don't have the patience for that.

1. Thank you

2. Thank you

3. I dont mind racking up miles, its the maintenance that comes with a higher mileage car ie wear & tear that im not fond of but thats to be expected. Cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed...i used to not like racking up miles then i realized what good is a car that doesnt get driven. Okay so maybe some people love their garage queens and enjoy em that way so i cant say but for me its the pleasure of rolling around in the EP. If and when i do purchase a NSX in the future granted my financial situation is up to par, ill drive that car everywhere as well in addition to the EP3.

And to everyone, i wish you all the best with you and your EPs. :mcool:
EP3s can roll forever! Okay maybe in a friction less environment they could...

I don't think it's impossible. You just have to keep it stock if anything, and keep up with the regular maintenance schedule to a T. I believe that any car, if the owner loves it unconditionally, could make any car last forever.
