Well, I love my ep3 k20a3 so much I want to switch to synthetic.
We have cold winters here and I do drive my car hard and want the best protection for the motor.
Its currently at 91,000 km, Would you recommend the switch?

go to engine section then go to oil section within that, you'll find the answer you need.

I'm thinking of running amsoil 5w30 synthetic? Is that smart?

dont think it could hurt in any way. I switched my b16 to synthetic after about a million miles and it still runs the same... burns about a 1/4 quart a week, gets the same mpg, and still runs like a honda.

Well I'm thinking mobil 1 5w30 even though the book says 5w20?
What should I do?

use 5w-30, your car will thank you later.

Dont ever use the 5w20 swill ! ! !

A good 5w30 is fine, if you boost or move down to the US south then a 5w40 is fine.

If you are looking for a really good oil to run that won't break the bank. I would looking into Pennzoil Plat or Ult. If your looking for some great protection while running the motor really hard (Racing) Then look into Amsoil. Royal Purple is Ok but burns off very quickly.

Personal opinion Mobile 1 is not the best Motor Oil. I would never use it.

AMSOIL FTW. 10w-30 turbo formulated is great for higher HP engines and boosted engines. AMSOIL saves money in the long run having to change the oil less

The non-severe oil interval is already 10k miles, how long do you amsoil guys stretch it to?...

Amsoil says we can change filters 2 times a year and do a yearly oil change. I'll be changing out my 5w20 amsoil for 5w30 once spring comes. Then back to 5w20 next winter as long as I'm not burning any. No clue on how many miles I'll be putting on it, but Amsoil has never let me down.
