Had my car keyed.

Been four years in a not so great part of Buffalo, and I guess the inevitable happened. I'm a senior at the University at Buffalo (made my screen name in a particularly zealous mood of school pride, not so much over the years) and the South Campus has a record of car break-ins and muggings. Happened at Tops (grocery store) directly across from campus, stopped there for all of ten minutes while I ran in for some beer to celebrate a review, I'm and an architecture major, and came out to find my car keyed. I always park away from everybody in the middle or end of the parking lot, and I guess someone disapproved of my arrogant choice in parking.

So the hood has been keyed, and the passenger side starting from the door and going all the way down to the end of the rear fender, cutting straight down to the metal. I had a police report filled out and have been talking to the insurance agency, so I will taking the car to a shop for an estimate on a re-spray. A friend of my dad owns a race/restoration shop, and going to see if he wants to do an insurance claim. This will either fuck me over if the insurance backs out, or will turn out to be a good thing because at 145k miles, the car could be freshened up. Still incredibly pissed at the world because I have put a lot of time and energy in getting the car in better shape since I bought it, plus it's a fantastic car.

My thoughts exactly. If I only saw who did it...

Well, things worked out pretty well for me. Had an estimate done by a collision shop and they said repairs will be well over $1000, so I need to have it looked at by an Allstate agent to prove it is indeed that much in repairs, and then I can take it where I like. The cost will be dismantling everything, repainting, and some bodywork done to fix the dent in the middle of the door that also happened at the same time the car was keyed. The shop that my dad's friend owns said he will do it and process the insurance claim, and that is the best part because he does excellent work. So I will have a newly painted hood, and entire passenger's side.

We are talking about a part of Buffalo that borders the ghetto, so no security cameras, no nothing. The police that filled out my report were not surprised in the least.

They have done a lot of work in the last two years to make South Campus a lot better place, but the surrounding area has not improved at all. I take it you were primarily on North? I admittedly don't get out of my studio much, so where are Molly's and Elmo's? Trying to make up for lost time while it's my last year here.

Are you sure its not someone you know that did this? EP3's are heavily unpopular Hondas and most people think they are Focuses.. So its doubtful someone would be jealous of it..its possible but I just dont think so.. Im nice to everybody I meet and use all my signals etc on the road and havent been keyed yet. My Camaro on the other hand was keyed 3 times..I KNOW That was jealousy.. everybody in Texas loves Camaros or Mustangs and they get jacked and keyed on a daily.

I'm hoping, but as a poor college student who needs to save for grad school next year I might not be able to pull that off. Since I know the guy who own's the shop i'm taking the car to, he'll let me do a little of the grunt work like wet sanding to save some labor costs, but paint just costs an arm and a leg.

people suck, with that mileage though i think it could use a fresh coat of paint especially if the car is outside 24/7 so it will look better than before when you get it fixed. try to be more careful if you can.

nah it prolly need to be bondoe cuz its pretty deep. its from behind the gas tank to the fender on the driver side. and it isnt one, its a couple :/

and that bastard hit my windshield wit his key when he was done, so i had to replace my whole windshield cuz later on it cracked all the way across
