What happens when you turn the key to try to start the car?

not a thing, it doesnt even crank. all that happens is the dashboard light dims and the rpm needle goes crazy

You say the battery is fine, but from you are describing it sounds like the battery.

Any luck with a jump start?

Yeah, but the dimming on the dash usually indicates battery.

If you aren't getting a crank then I would go with the battery first. You amperage to kick the motor over and if the battery doesn't have enough CCA (cold cranking amps) to turn over the motor then the car won't start.

Again try a jump.

Moved to Engine.

I would agree with the battery. take it to AutoZone/Advanced/etc and have them test it.

check the terminals. take the connectors off and make sure tehres no corrosion between the surfaces. happens all the time.

Sounds like an Optima yellow top.

Yup definately sounds like a bad battery. You say the battery is fully charged. How do you know that? The easiest and sure way to verify is to jump it.
