Thanks guys...it's a really crappy feeling. You keep thinking "Man...maybe I didn't park my car here...?"

But at the end of the day there's no way around it. I'm just banking on the fact that the car is pretty niche and not many EPs are floating around so it's possible the parts could turn up and I could pay the d-bags a visit. :mmad:

Now I'm starting to think about a replacement...may go look at a CRZ today.

Dang..that EP is super SICK..no wonder it got stolen..nobodys EP gets stolen..its gotta be NICE.. SORRY this happend to you.. there is good news to this.. you bought an EP and most Honda people that buy an EP3 hop onto EPHatch.. So I think theres a good chance the community can find your parts for you when they show up and if they dont show up online..well its going to be pretty obvious when you see someone driving around town with your parts since last time I went to Houston I only saw 2 EPs and one was silver.

Yeah...I never thought it would happen to me. I guess now that they are around the 5-6k price range and it's harder to find good EK Civics in decent shape it was only a matter of time before theives started targeting them.

Anyways...looked at some cars this afternoon and have to wait until Monday before I can get a rental car.

So how does this sort of thing work? I mean I will need a new car; but if my car turns up what happens then? I don't want to wait till the last minute to buy a car but I also don't want to hold my breath that my car is recovered either.

I wouldn't mind if it's still in good shape. If it's been all beat up and crap then no. Honestly I just hate the hassle of finding another car at this point.

I'm in the middle of a Medical Dosimetry program and this is the last thing I need.

It doesnt suprise me in the least bit that that CTR EK got stolen, people where I live would jack that car in broad daylight with people everywhere..

I would never buy an EK just because of fear of having it stolen.. the car is just a pure thief magnet...

Man after looking at some cars today I can totally say I agree with the above statement.

I looked at a Mazdaspeed3 and loved it; but I can't stand the fact that some low life scum bag may one day steal it.

On the other hand I looked at a Honda Insight, it was an extremely boring car but the likely hood of it being stolen is low. I looked at the CR-Z which was a decent alternative but it's way too small. I'm 6'2" and my hair was scraping the roof.

I'm torn at the moment, I don't want to ever worry about having my car stolen or messed with, would prefer 4 doors; but at the same time I want to enjoy driving...being that I spend at least 3 hours a day in my car.

The CTR wasn't working at the time of theft and was taken out of his backyard that had a big ass chain on it. So they cut the chain, pushed it out ,then had to tow it somehow....soo F'd up. I guess it just means people are gonna get your shit if they are determined to steal it.

The Subaru Legacy Spec-B/GT is your car.

Its STi status without the boy-racer look at me and ive never heard of a Legacy being stolen..most people probably think its an accord..little do they know its got a boosted boxster beast under the hood.

One thing I do notice about all your mods, their's not one thing to detour a thief. You spent a lot of money on her, maybe you should have spent some of it in a alarm of some sort? Maybe a kill switch? Just saying. If you did have one, I apologize for jumping to a conclusion.

Damn man, I can't believe I'm seeing this. I am so sorry bro, I was in your shoes a year and a half ago and it is the absolute worst feeling in the world. My EP was stolen from in front of my dads house in a nice neighborhood in Falls Church, VA. They found it a few hours later minus my freshly powder-coated Volks, Kpro, Avic D3, and a couple other random things.

I had just completed my a2 swap a month or two earlier so I was very thankful they didn't mess with my motor/trans/etc. Hopefully you get it back in decent shape man, and you can keep her going. Thats how I felt, I couldn't give up on my baby.

Damnit man, why can't people actually work for what they want like all of us do. I swear if I ever saw someone trying to break in to or steal my car, I would pop a minimum of 2 rounds of .45 ACP in their chest. Concealed carry permit is a great thing...lol.

I hope you find the car as they took it man. I hate seeing this happen to such a clean car.

In GA you don't even need the permit for the car; GACarry.org - it's a beautiful thing :usa2: :msmile:
But yes that's exactly why I bought my pistol, there's been 3 instances where I thought we were going to get robbed/jacked/killed in Atl and it's just worth the peace of mind. Mine's not even nice but hell it's mine and I hope you're cracked out if you plan on yanking my stuff from me.

Wow...so here's an amazing story. My car was found!

So I was going to the insurance company to talk to my agent about the car and give her some documents. As soon as I sat down in the chair to talk with her my phone rings...it's the police department!

They told me they found the car! Everything is intact! The cops said that they car looked out of place in the area that they found it...a bad side of town (North side, close to a place called Acres Homes...dead bodies turn up there all the time)

The damage is relatively minor from what I can tell so far:

-Broken ignition switch/immobilizer (possibly steering column)
-Broken passenger side door lock
-Dent on the passenger door
-They stole my iPod Nano

The officer sent me the following pics of my car as they found it

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/thaseint/1293066101253imagejpeg_2.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/thaseint/1293066082841imagejpeg_2.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/thaseint/1293066060831imagejpeg_2.jpg

They towed the car to the impound until my insurance takes care of getting it to the shop for repairs. I went by the towing yard to check out the car and the car is in good shape with just the things posted above.

Now I'm kind of wondering how they started the car. I only know of one way the car can be started without the key; but it doesn't appear that they used that method. Now I'm going on a quest to up my security, I never like to mention the security I use on any of the forums I visit; but I will say that it is pretty basic.

All and all I can say is I'm EXTREMELY relieved. Thank you ALL for the support!!! :msmile::msmile::msmile::msmile:

I love how thieves can be so brilliant and so stupid at the same time. They can find a way to bypass the immobilizer (if they just put the time in they really could be productive citizens) but on the other hand, park a stolen car in the parking lot of their apartment. LOL...

Thats awesome dude!!!!!! The car was most likely left there on purpose they wanted it to sit somewhere in case it had a lojack or gps on it. That way they can keep an eye on it for a few days. If nothing comes up they take it to another place and strip it down...... Read this on another forum a few months ago

In my community, I really want to get a bunch of people together and work with the police department to do the bait car business. I don't see why more of that type of stuff doesn't go on. Thefts are a huge problem and affect our lives so much, but yet the police (at least around here) don't really care.

Maybe they just probably took your car for a joy ride and thought it was a type R until they found out it wasn't?

Either way, it is good that it didn't get stripped.

Similar thing happen to my stock 1994 2 Door GSR. It was stolen and all they took was the stock airbox, both front seats, the stock fat 5 rims and the ecu. Some how they didn't take the motor... The big damange was to all the electrical stuff though.

This is a weird case...here's what we know so far. So far we are thinking it was towed.

I went to the Honda dealer today and the tech was able to use a screw driver to turn the engine over; but it wouldn't actually start. The engine kept turning but never actually fired up.

The immobilizer was ripped out and sitting in the back seat in pieces. The key cylinder was completely missing so I'm not sure what they did to it. When I popped the hood it looked like the thief pulled off the upper intake hose...not sure what they were trying to do there. Maybe looking for part of my security setup? Who knows...?

The ECU was still plugged in and bolted in place.

The tech told me he's worked at the dealership for 9 years and has never seen a car with an immobilizer stolen and drive, so he said what probably happened was the thief tried to start the car, couldn't get it started and got a friend with a tow truck. It makes sense; but it just seems like an involved and time consuming job considering nothing was taken off the car. Especially since the car was missing for almost a week.

A joy ride would make more sense but it still doesn't explain why the car can't start right up with the screw driver when the tech tried it.

Real glad to see this. I saw the first page and felt heartbroken to hear someone's car was stolen, then clicked to page 5 and the first thing I saw was "dude thats great congrats on getting your baby back."

I'd imagine the police couldn't tell you who took it, or else they might have some good old Texas justice coming for them...I've heard stories of people being hunted all the way to Georgia from Dallas and then being nothing short of mutilated.

Im pretty sure they were just waiting on buyers for the parts.. but after they googled the exact car you have Im sure they realized it was gonna be very difficult for them to sell the parts and not get caught considering how rare the car is and how "close" ep3 drivers who actually modify their cars are.

with other Civics its easy to sell the parts and not get caught..everybody on every block has the same civic with most of the same parts give or take and to top it off..the parts are almost all interchangable.. not so with the EP ! other than the interior bits..

That's what I'm thinking. Since I found the car missing I started scouring craigslist and various forums. I figured that it would be hard to unload the parts.

I mean honestly I have never seen a silver JDM facelift front end (among other misc parts) in Texas...im sure another exists but the odds of my car getting stolen and similar parts showing up for sale is one in a billion.

Thankfully 99.99% of the population doesn't care for the EP.

In no particular order, soccer/ work/ woman. I love the avatar, by the way. Give me a call some time & let's catch up. & with that said, I don't want to jack this guy's thread.

PS: OP, glad everything came together. Though the car was returned, I'd still feel pretty nervous that the thieves would return to finish the job.

Thanks.

Well fortunately I will be moved out of my apartment by the time I get the car back from the shop. Once I get it back I'm going to go nuts with security...layers and layers of security. Like I said my security was very basic, I just had the OEM alarm (no tilt, no piezo siren, no hood pin, no backup battery, no kill switches, etc.)

My only dilemma at this point is how to avoid towage (aside from a tilt sensor/paging system which still requires you be within range). I figure at this point I only have a few options:

1) Remove one or more wheels (not practical) and someone could easily put another wheel on.

2) Use some kind of boot device...see number 1. It might slow them down but all they would have to do is swap another wheel on.

3) I'm not sure exactly how every tow trucks work but it seems like many require the use of the tow hooks. Would it be possible to make two plates that are sandwiched together with a lock that prevents the hooks from being used? I guess they could always use some other solid part of the car though...

In other words...no effective way.

The thing that really sucks about thieves with tow trucks is that they can do it and it all looks legit. Someone sees a car getting towed and they think "There's someone who can't pay their bills!"

If someone's desperate enough to go through the work to steal your car, they'll find a way. It's one of the reasons we have insurance. There's a point at which going overboard on preventative measures outweigh the potential loss.

You could always do like 'myspacep3' proposed & hire a security guard or put razor blades under your door handles.

if you really want to be secure with your car, try to get a house wit a gargage connected to your house.

lmao, cow is back!!

On the other hand, to the original poster. Viper has a 2-way paging alarm that also has an app to track your car (gps), auto-start, and warn you if someone is messing with your car, kind of like onstar.

Update

So I still don't have my car. Apparently the insurance company is ordering the parts; but they keep ordering the wrong steering column. So far they have ordered the wrong column twice.

Not sure how that happens; but as it stands the car is still in the condition it was found from what I understand. I'm guessing they keep ordering the column for the regular Civics...not really knowing that the EP3 is practically an entirely different car? The steering column is still broken, the door is still dented and nothing has been repainted.

Not really complaining since I have my car back; but it's a bit crazy that the damage is relatively minor all things considered and it's been in the shop for two weeks. Better having it done right than half ass-ed I suppose.

Yeah that is probably the problem. It's probably an aftermarket part as well. You may just want to let them know that your car is in a completely different line up from the other Civics that year.

Glad your car was recovered.

It is all in your policy. Its usually all aftermarket.

For instance with on my policy if the car is more than two years or a year I think than its aftermarket. This is usually the case with most insurance companies as well.

Maybe, but at least with a good alarm the owner's got the opportunity to hear what's happening before it's too late, ya know?
Hell, there are options with GPS tracking and instant text notifications of anything unusual, if you wanna spend the money.

"Whatevs they'll get that shit no matter what" doesn't really help the conversation man.
