Suggestions on DD tires 215/45/17 TIRE GURUS HELP!

Sup fellow ephatchers. I've been checking up on my car lately and have made a list of some routine maintenance i need to start approaching over the next couple of months. Tires are going to be a must because my fronts are starting to bald badly, so I'll have to rotate my tires to get my moneys worth out of them. Currently I'm runnning falken ziex 912s for DD. AND I gotta say. At a 215/45/17 size they suck. When I ran them 195/60/15 they were nice, but that's a different story now. So I've been looking into different tires. I've got on my mind for my next set of tires would be either Sumitomos or Generals. I'm looking more for my next set of tires to be long lasting in tread wear. So if anyone has any ideas and input please leave some suggestions. Thank you in advance.

DD commuting in Fremont i'd go with either
Goodyear Eagle GT
Yokohama yk520's.
i hear nothing but good on the goodyears and i have the yk520s on my stocks, only thing is they dont come in 215/45's only 225/45's. both, if i remember correctly, come with great mileage warranty's.

BFGoodrich G-Force Sports, had them before my Direzza's in 215/45. great DD tire. lasted me about 25k. decently sticky without sacrificing much ride comfort.
Yokohama S-Drives. a tad softer than the BFG's but they ride great
Hankook Ventus v12's: by far the cheapest of the 3. came #2 in Car and Drivers tire test for auto-x and track. not sure about longevity though

well my stockies i'm looking more of an all season tire with longevity when it comes to tire wear, but I'm open to summer tires since I've been running these types for the past 4 years

I also commute from San Leandro, Hayward, Union City, Milpitas too if that helps even more. Thanks for all the input on future DD tires and DD performance tires


go with 225/45/17

is there a certain reason to go with 225/45/17 over 215/45/17 talon?

I ran Sumitomo HTRZIII in your size for about 40k miles. They were great tires and I even had 2 track days on them. I just bought Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 XL in size 225/45/17 as replacements though. If you have a 7" width wheel, you can maximize your grip by getting 225/45/17 size tires as that is the widest you should go for that wheel.

Dood ur in norcal. All season tires are sooo unnecessary. It never rains. Even in the rain mike we had last week, I never felt the Ep get crazy. I drove from satatoga to Oakland every day for 7 years. Plenty of miles in the rain

I like the bfg gforce.sports, but theyve been out forever. But my last set got me close to 50k miles. I had 215/45/17 and most recently.235/40/17. Im thinking about going with bridgestone 760s when my oem allseason michelins wear out on the tl-s 255/40/17.

another vote for bfgoodrich g force sports. I have them and this is the second set I'm on. My first set was close to 50K miles.

thanks for the reviews guys and yeah with my falken ziexs i loose grip all the time even in the slight wet pavement i can feel it. it worsens when it is really pouring and on the freeway if i hit a huge puddle it'll slide from side to side. scary the shit out of me every time

i'm thinking 225/45/17 so i can grip the rode a lot more. 235 would be a bit much on my width

One more vote for the Hankook EVO V12's. I'm running them right now in a 225/45/17 and haven't had any issue in the rain. I think with a 235 you'd rub unless you were running tons of negative camber.

Well another vote for Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's i am running them on my wheels 225/45/17. They grip in the rain dry arnt noisy and help out a lot in cornering. I also have the Falken 912's on my stockies 205/55/16 they are good dd tires in that size.

Im a big fan of the V12's also. They are a good tire to use for a DD. Good treadwear and temp ratings. Are they gonna be year round tires? Or jus your summers.

I love my General Exclaim 225/45/17. It's holding up to my power level quite well, and it has a long treadwear. It also handles well in the wet. The only negative thing is the sidewall is a bit soft so there is a bit more movement in the corners compared to my 225/45/16 KDW2. Other than that, it's a great tire for DD. I have about 13+K miles on it with the 450+whp. The tires are still fairly quiet, and there are still a good amount of thread on them even with full boost every time I drive my car.

i have seen your opinion on these tires before and i've read many great reviews on tirerack.com on the generals, so i'm leaning towards these but now i'm going to take a look at the hankooks
