Haha, glad someone likes it. The best part is, it was full of my dad's old tools that I got to pull out of our garage. I'm still sorting through it. Got some camping gear, and some wire storage racks for my garage. Pretty good haul.

Part of the reason I got the hitch was for a bike rack, and I'd like to find a small trailer for myself for camping trips and stuff. This trailer was borrowed. I'm keeping an eye out for like a 3'x5'

Having the ability to hitch up a trailer and cart around toys is awesome. I have towed ATV's, PWC and a Suzuki Samurai with the EP3.

The ATV trailer makes a good tent platform when camping, off the ground, dry, and no sticks and stones poking thru the sleeping pad!

why is it that the si can tow and the ctr has a zero towing limit...

why is it that the si can tow and the ctr has a zero towing limit...

I've heard it has to do with the light weight fly wheel on the CTR.

LLH
01-04-2011, 02:38 PM
how much does the si wheight? and how much can it carry fully loaded?

CTR wheighs 1200kg, max allowed total wheight is 1500kg. so 4 persons + soem luggage and your over the limit..

talonXracer

The issue is that the CTR does not come from the factory with a hitch therefore it can not have one mounted in the majority of it's markets, but here in the States we have the option of a aftermarket hitch.

It's a legal thing. Is it England that has a tow rating? Can't remember but it's around 1800-2000 lbs. Doug, was it you that brought this up about a year ago? So just get a hitch and go lightly.

TTownEP

From what I understood, the UKDM CTR is rated for 500 kilos, but we aren't "supposed" to tow anything with it here in the US.
That being said, this is the US, and furthermore, I'm in Alabama, where there are no inspections. So we do whatever we want, haha. I decided that the "no tow" rating was a legal cover-your-ass, not an engineering opinion, so I decided it would be fine. I even wired in a 4-pin light connector, but it turns out the trailer had no lights, so I never got to use it.

The problem here, in norway atleast, is the max allowed total wheight. Mounting a hitch on a car is not a problem at all, it can be done to anycar that can legally pull a trailer. that means that the max allowed total wheight allows it.. example; car wheights 1500kg, max allowed total wheight is 3000kg, means you can pull 1500kg. But on a normal B lisence(car) you cant drive anything heavier than 3500kg. so if you have a big car you need lisence that says you can drive a heavier car, 7500kg i next step. after that its over to big trucks/semi trailers lisence and 50000kg..

Half of the vehicles I drive do not and are not, required to have a license plate just a red triangle, nothing better than hauling a load of cow shyt down the back roads with a line of city slickers gagging behind ya! LOL

No I'll be keeping it and modding it. If I wanted a truck to mod I'd get the Tacoma which was my first choice but the F-150 supercrew is bigger, better, stronger, and mpg is about the same.

Also from my drives to sd from la my back doesn't hurt from F-150 seats. Seats in the ep are good but not great.

I've been towing with my EP for a while now. A two wheel tire trailer with a toolbox, taking it to the track. Its been great. But I'll admit that I've just bought a truck to use as a DD that I am going to use to actually tow the EP to the track.

Awesome! I whipped into a Tractor Supply Co. that I was passing the other day, because I saw some small trailers out there. They had some 4'x6' steel trailers with the expanded steel mesh floor, wired for lights for $429. You could get a 4'x7' with a ramp/gate for $549

For anyone that's interested, the hitch was bought from U-Haul for $115. Just looking at the amount of steel in the thing, not worth that much, but that seems to be the same price range as most of the online retailers.

I had one, but sitting on 8 balls all the time got old, so I sold it on eBay for fif-teen thousand. Those other 5 just shriveled up and dropped off soon after.

I camp a lot (thats why I became a douche and bought a truck) but I hate sleeping on the ground. I learned its a lot better to have a sleeping mat and just sleep out doors in the truck bed under the stars. That or sleeping in the back of my supercrew

Hearing raccoons and other mystery animals running around my truck is freaky, I'm not protected lol
