nickel finish will be my last choices.....black/bronze first be my first two pick.....

options are very limited with 4x100.....the only other wide enough is rpf1 16x8 ....but 245/45/16 i think its a bit too tall..... plus im not getting those for look.... 15x9 weight in at 12.7 lbs ftw

I saw a miata with these the other day. I say go for it, although I'm confused on your tire choices.. you'd have tremendous wheel gap with such small tires, or no gap, and completely fucked suspension geometry from being on 15s with a 35 profile tire.. Don't you think 50 walls would do you better? Say 245/50?

whoooooa, missed the bit about running a 35-series tire.
I'm assuming the idea of running such a low profile is to avoid rubbing. Running something as wide as a x9 wheel with big beefy tires to boot is (I think ) just asking for fender rubbing issues. So I could see where the thought to run lower-profile tires comes from.
So yeah, how bad would this be for geometry? Just for autox, so maybe it doesn't matter that much...seems counter-intuitive, though.

I'd love to run some of their wheels, but 15s won't fit over my Wilwood kit, and their 17" wheels only come in 5 lug. :(

wheel gap have nothing to do with performance which its what im after.... according to mr ep3 suspension dude (Mustclime) with our car anything lower than .75 will fucked up our car's suspension geometry.... i want my car to handle not look good.... always modds all my cars that way

in autox you want to jam the biggest/widest tires you can..... and weight is your worst enemy....with 4x100 that 02 ep3 came with the widest tires i can go with will be 275/35/15 hoosier....and i dont drive those on street....

He's also a full blown suspension ride height nazi.. Look at SHG_EasyE, he's low and his car performs great.

maybe i'll slam it when i get the buddy club rsd..... but i wont lower my car becuz of wheel gap.... i can careless about that....

27rocks
01-11-2011, 10:43 AM
You can lower a car and still make it handle great. There are more supporting parts you will have to buy in order to achieve that but you can still make it handle. And everything Mustclime is referring to is basically if you are keeping most stock suspension parts.
I used to get bad feedback from people all the time about my car because it wasn't low enough or it was to low to perform. I set it up to perform and did the minimum to get it all back to stock geometry and everything came out fantastic and the car turns like its on rails. Not to mention in 2008 i won my auto-x class with flying colors and i only went out there to f**K around i don't even like the stupid thing. I would much rather go out to a track and play out there all day.

udontknowjack
01-11-2011, 11:06 AM
Exactly... Slam it 1.5-2 lower to make it look good cuz of wheel gap n lose performance... You can still make it work by spending adding other parts... Gain you get with lowering our car doesn't justify all the extra money u have spend to make it work....

Its not that much more extra $$. Just a few key parts that make or break the geometry. Also i'm not sure if it was a typo but 275's on our cars is way over kill. 255 max up front is what i would say.. and you don't always have to go wider to get grip, tire compound is also a good tool to use.

U r right 275 it's over kill... Would love 255 but nobody make that size in 15'... 4x100 really limited my choice... Probably stick wig 225 v710 or a6

I like the way you think! Looks good. Can't wait to see some 275/35 on those.....

.....she needs flares and negative camber. This was on stock specs and the tires is WAY WAY too large for the Ep3. So, attempt to find a 275/35/15 street tire and call it a day.

Wow, those do look quite nice, especially considering your 1st priority is function, not form (as it should be!)... I'm usually not a fan of bronze wheels, but those almost appear more gunmetal than bronze. Waitin on more 'real world' pics (i.e. w/ tires, not on jackstands, etc... lol) :mwink:

I'm planning to go to San Diego in April for national event. But what u r saying driver can make up the differentd from a max build it's class allow in SMF to a car that's about 70whp 60tq less in street tire??

Actually that did happened to us that day... We got out ass kick by a 89 civic si fully build to it's class in ST... 20-30+ yrs autox exp... 300 lbs lighter car and oh he usually finish top 10 in pax just about every event

Yup, driver is by far the most important part. (http://farnorthracing.com/autocross_secrets3.html)

Pro solo would be an excelent place to learn as well as being some of the most fun you can have at an SCCA autocross. Think Drag race + turns.

an evo school would be well worth your time and $$$

depends on the class, you don't see it much in the Stock classes thanks to wheel restrictions or in the ST classes due to wheel width restrictions... but in the modified classes it can be quite common.

by all means, build the car to the limits of the class. Just don't expect it to win the class for you.

Remember, you are dealing with tuning an inherently heavier car with a problematic suspension design vs that Integra, so it is unlikely that you will be able to out engineer him. Driving better then him is ultimately whats going to win you the trophy.

That's why I like the ep3... Bad suspension design... Under power... Under brake... Way too heavy... It'll be that much sweeter when I run him down this year....
