Ok, got bored today and couldnt resist the oppurtunity to see how my bronze rims are going to look next to the black beauty. Well to my amazement there was a HUGE gap to fill with a drop. It measures 4 inches! Looks like a mud boggin machine now eh?! But at any rate, after I put the stock wheel back on i remeasured the gap and it appeared to be about 3.5 inches. my 17s have 40 series tires on them and they come up a wee bit short of the stock diameter measurent so i figure that as a reason for the difference.

Just for fun, if you guys wouldn't mind, post pics of your EP drop, and if possible list how it is done as in what parts were used. Also if you could get a good close up of the wheel gap because I hear alot of guys talking about 2 inch drops but that is, at this point, going to leave a gap of more than and inch and half so far.

Thanks dudes, more pics to come:)

Just for giggles I photoshopped a drop and added the other rim. Sweet looking now for sure;) Can't wait!

Let's see what you guys got.

nice wheels. I suggest u get the neuspeed race springs. they'll get your car look'n pretty close to the photochop, even with the slightly overall shorter diameter of the wheel/tire combo:)

if not the race then isuggest ground control coilovers.:) you can adjust and it will bring your car down as far as you want. i had some 205/45/16s on my car a while ago and i dropped my car. i have pics here somewhere.

Hey Chap, my car is about the same as yours. I dont have any pics but I have 17's OZ rims w/ Yokohama Paradas 205/40 with Eibach Pro-kit. Its looks ok, but I still think the gap is too big, in the back, the gap is about two fingers, and three fingers in the front. Supposedly, Eibach pro-kit drop about 1" around, and the Sport kit drops about 1.5" all around. But I order the H&R springs coming out, its supposed to drop 2" all around. I have to check again on the H&R springs, cuz i just check the H&R website, it said it only drops 1.5", so i gotta make sure b4 i buy them. So my suggestion is to at least get a 1.5" drop, and maybe get bigger tires like 215/45. :)

HOLY smokes. What the hell is going on in that first pic. Are you messing with us or are you serious about that being stock height? That looks scary.

What kinda of tires are those? I highly suggest you to get a taller tire. 1 for the looks and 2 for the ride quality. I cant imagine how bad the ride will be once lowered on those.

The wheels are absolutely gorgeous though!!! One of my fav. How much do they weigh?

Funny stuff I know, but that is stock height. The tires are 205/40/17s. I had them on my Integra and they rode fairly well considering low profile. I am thinking the next set of tires I put on the rims will be 215/45/17, but the rim is 17x7, is that gonna look fat(as in hanging over) with the tire being that wide?

As for the weight, the rim weighs in at just a hair under 17 pounds, so I am guessing when I say that with the tire on they weigh in at under 22 pounds each.

a 215 45 will probably be your best bet. It will fit on your wheel no problem.

At 17 pounds a wheel thats not bad. I thought they were lighter though. They must be cast. Still very good though.

BTW, your wheel and tire combo probably weighs around 40 pounds a piece :)

wow, uh, no offense Doc, but since the rim alone only weighs 17 pounds, there is no way that with the adding a tire and perhaps 7 ounces of balance weights that I would be adding 23 pounds! I'll look around here and the net for more info but I do think I was closer to the mark with 22, maybe even 23 pounds.

peace fellas

ok, maybe closer would be to say 30 pounds...still looking...hell I might as well take it to work and weight the silly thing :)

fishboy

haha. yeah for sure it wouldn't be 23 lbs, like doc said. my rims are 15lbs each and with some 712s the final weight came out to be 32 lbs per combo vs. 38 lbs from the stock combo. i think i scored.:D

No offense taken bro :) You just obviously have no clue on what tires weigh.
I first thought you were running a larger tire but even still... average 205/40/17 inch weighs around 21-23 pounds.

If you still dont believe me, get your scale out and weigh the dam things. Then you can come back and apologize ;)

It's all good Doc, I weighed the wheel package and it came to 35 pounds. I do apologize (even though I am not sure why) for my lack of complete knowledge on the subject. But after all, that's what you guys are here for, to help others make educated decisions. Thanks to all for the help and comments.

The second pic still didn't look that good. I like bigger tires on our cars because they're so round, on the coupes they look great. Maybe with larger rims I would feel different. But I like how it's dropped a lot better than in the first.

Try this formula: Take tire width 195mm div. by 25.4 = 7.677 inches wide multiplied by side wall ratio of 60% = 4.606" side wall multiply by 2x = 9.212, plus the wheel diameter of 15 = 24.213" total diameter for the stock wheel/tire setup. This is the golden rule for plus sizing any rim and tire on any car. The key factor is the 25.4 to get into inches. A tolerence of +- 2% is acceptable despite what so called professional shops say. More than 2% difference and you through off your speedo and ABS computer. It's really amazing what size tires people put on a car just becouse it looks cool. I knew a ricer that had 204/40s on16 on a 2000 Accord sedan. Not only did it screw the handling and overal performance, it looked rediculous. Your set up is very clean, me like, but you should consider some 205/45s or 215/45s. Check this site out and share with all EP3 brothers and sisters. Peace

That first pic looks almost like you lifted your EP. Definitely go with 215/45/17 - best size tire for a 17" wheel - I have em' on my Heliums:
