As usual for the salt season, I purchased a winter vehicle (a 1992 Lexus SC400). Although I am highly enjoying the poor man's Supra with a V8 this winter, I am thoroughly missing my Ep3. It seems I appreciate it more now that I can't drive it, than when I was able to drive it daily.

I was wondering if anybody else has had similar "longings" to drive their Ep3 in the winter such as myself?

Absolutely. My tleg is great fun and all in the snow, but I miss the crap out of my EP.

Definitely...I miss driving the ep, but I've taken it out once on clear roads, but its nice having a beater I have no love for to drive so I don't have to feel bad about putting the ep on the road and cringing knowing its getting coated in salt

I stare at my car for at least 10 seconds, 3 days in a week. Imagining what it would look like after I graduate college. Probably the same....

Every winter I miss it. I have fun pissing off the neighbors when I start it up bi-monthly.
I don't miss the salt corrosion though...

This is the very first winter that the EP3 has resided inside the garage, I do have a 05' Silverado to putt around with and just traded my DS650 for another project vehicle today, a Suzuki Samurai with coil spring 3 link suspension, 32" tires and a 1.6L engine out of a Geo Tracker.

i'm only 17 so the ep is my daily. it bothers me that i have to take it out and get it covered in salt but i try to keep a decent layer of wax on it for protection. i wish i had an awd wagovan or something for winter though. that would be sooo much better

I hear ya. My tleg gets 20mpg on a good day. If I can't resist getting into boost I end up getting ~16mpg.

although i have never driven my EP in the winter i miss it most this year cause my beater is falling apart and i refuse to put any monies into it. even if its to change the oil, i wont do it. driver door doesnt close(thank you bungie cords.. lol), exhaust is broken somewhere up front, alignment is screwed, shocks are blown, and windshield slightly cracked. too lazy to go through puchasing a new beater when the corrola still limps along on its final winter.

so yeah the EP just sits under the cover.. i peeked under the cover yesterday to remind me i can have a female in my car, just not during the winter months if i ever want to see her again.

i hit a deer october 12th, and i took it to the body shop that following week, since then i had to drive my 2001 5.9L dodge 1500 up until december 28th... it sucked so much, but now i got the ep3 back and i love it even more than i did before... i forgot how much FUN it was to drive... i hope to never go 2.5 months away from the ep3 AGAIN!!!

3 feet of snow in saskatchewan, but i still rock the ep3 daily in winter, its too cold here to salt the roads, they just sand the intersections, and streets are plowed at 4AM every time it snows, so there is no need for a 4wd here... only thing i use the dodge for is to drive out to the farm to pick up the sled, or the quad so i can save my rims.

my em1 with factory LSD was THE SHIT!! to drive around in winter, it pulled through everything and i was tuckiing tire for 2 winters in a row and never got stuck once.. nokian Hakapolita RSi's FTW

^^ THIS!

till then I'll have to put up with $90 to fill up my Silverado every week.
My grandparents decided to head down south for the winter so I convinced them to give me the keys to their corolla....
been putts-in around the thing for a month now. Filled up the other day with $30. Tank lasted me 9 days. On a windy day going down hill I hit 59.125MPH.

Last winter I didnt drive my ep3 during winter and did i ever miss it, but decided to prep the hell out of the ep3 for winter to see how it does (the previous owner drove without rustproof for 4 winters with no issues, so i put some ws70's on and rustproof. I was told not to wash my car as much, cause the rust proof will eventually wear off. So the last car wash i did was when i got my car rustproofed, almost 2 months ago. I think its time for a car wash. Good news is when i rust proofed the car is rust free for car that has never been rust proofed. Owner said that hes seen cars that have seen winters for 30+ years and are still fine. Just need to rust proof every winter and fix any possible rust spots asap.
