Crankshaft seal ?

I noticed a big oil leak and first I thought it was the V Tec solenoid so I replaced both gaskets drove around checked again and there was still leak so I took it to a shop and they said it was the crankshaft seal so they changed it and now there no more oil leak... My question is what can cause a crankshaft seal to crack and cause it leak ? also every time I start the car it cranks slow... would that mean the crankshaft might be damaged ?

way too much oil has done in my friends rear seal on his car. as far as i know its just a common seal to leak on many engines. its a pretty stressful area, considering its holding oil in, the crank power, and the rest of the drivetrain.

yeap i have that same problem due to a fuk tard who was car sitting decided to add more oil cause its a 2.4 and now i have a leaking seal

I just hope it didn't do any damage to the crank shaft... I put the right amount of oil so I don't really know what caused the leak
