Hi, I am a newbie here. I have a 02 Black Si. Which one do you guys think better ? OZ Superleggera or Rota Subzero ? I will go for 18" and Eibach Sportline.

Rota Subzero cost twice less, $600 for Rota and $1200 for OZ. Rota only comes in 18 x 7.5". Isn't it too WIDE ?

Planning to have Yokohama Parada Spec-2, but I live in Chicago with HEAVY SNOW sometimes. Is this tire OK ?

I know OZ is VERY good and well known, but Rota, I kinda doubt it for some reason, and the wheel detail seems not as good as OZ.

Thanks for any opinions.

OZ's in 16 or 17, don't get 18. From what people are saying about 18's you will regret buying them. You can safely fit up to an 8" wheel, someone mentioned Mugen had a 16x8 wheel on their project Si.

I am running 18X7.5 (not too wide, no rubbing not lowered yet) 5Zigen Fighter wheels with Parada S2 215/40. I live in Cali so no snow yet. . . In the rain they handle good.

I hit a pot hole and bent one of my wheels from the inside lip about 3 inches toward the center. My point. . .The tire didn't go flat. I think I owe it to the rim "protector" bar and the light weight wheel. Still had to buy a new rim (but not a tire).

Check this site Wheel info (http://www.wheelspecs.com)

Lighter is better (less stress on your suspension parts like bearings and bushings), but it costs a grip more.

Did you bent your wheel lip, because it was an 18" low profile tire, or it could also happen to 17" wheel hitting a pothole ?

btw, I will not go for 16" :D What so different with 15" ;)

How good or bad is this Rota ? The price seems challenging... to me :)

Rotas are not a bad deal, they seem to be lightweight and they've been around for awhile. I've never owned them.

OZ is KING SHI_, they have a good rep. They are racing wheels. I think you'll get a superior product from OZ vs. Rota.

The same could happen to a 17" wheel as far as the rim damage goes. The lip isn't really bent, the "barrel" is what got "flattened".
Just keep the air pressure up and you should be ok. I hit a pothole on the left front wheel while going around a banked righthander that was inclined. There was alot of weight on that side of the car, and I had the pressure somewhat soft because I'm trying to find the best setup.

Good Luck

:D

I think I will go with 17". Reasons are cheaper, lighter, ride better.

Thank you for all the responses, I will guy that OZ, may be next month. Got no money yet :)

Since when were the OZ's offered in anything 15" or bigger for our car. Tirerack only has them available for our car in 15 by 7. Thats what i have on my car.

Oh, if I had a choice, I'd pick Superleggeras in 16s....

...they BEND very, very easily...
i know from experience...
i think they're made in Taiwan...

how can you compare a $120 rim to a $400 rim?

I have 7x18" Superleggeras (Race silver) with 215/35R18 Pirelli P7000 tyres. But I have a CTR though but black as well... Really like the wheel and tyres, haven't lowered it yet. They're very light and the diameter is about the same as the original wheels. A pic of the car:

Jostrom !! Your car looks very nice, now you convinced me to have that wheel.

Can you do me a favor ? If you have time please take a picture from the side. I really want to see them from the sides.

Thank You.

Here you go.

As you can see the car sits very high. I'm lowering it after the winter. I think I'll go for Eibach Sportline kit (-50mm). The best thing about Superleggeras is that you can get them 7" wide even in 18". In my opinion race silver Superleggeras look better than the dark ones on a black car. So I think you should go for them... The dark ones look good on red cars for example.

C1V1C: If you can get white, get white, they're rarely seen.

White is too CONTRAST, I prefer the grey ones. Anyway the grey is not as shiny as the OEM silver, I think that's best for me.

I did think to have white wheel on Black Si. But I dunno, I might think about it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Planning to buy them next month with parada spec-2, I will post pic later on.

Thanks guys, you helped me a lot.
