A little while ago I seen a pic of the 02 Si (EP) with the 99 Si rims on it, can anyone direct me to that link , or know where I can find that pic again. I just picked up a set of 99 Si rims and I wouldn't mind seeing that pic again. I won't be mounting the rims until I get some new tires. any info would be cool

thanks

Here is a picture I did a while back. Don't know if this is the picture you are talking about but hope it helps.

BTW sicivic2002 , was that you who posted the weight of our stock rims on this website ?. I remember someone posted the weight of our stock rims and tires on this site a while back, need to find out who that was too.

How do you like the 99 Si rims ?, do you like the way they look on your car ?. seem nice to me, better than our stock ones IMO.
thanks for any info.

Hey IcedoutinCali ! , could you list those weights again. I just got a set of 99 Si rims expecting them to be lighter than our stock rims, the 99 Si rims are 14-15 lbs.

I measure the 2002 tire/rim combo at 31 lbs total, but I am unsure what part the rims make out of that 31 lbs. If you have that readily available could you let me know, I am in a post on the auto-x forum regarding the wheel weights of these rims right now, so that info would be helpful. I will try searching your old posts too.

thanks man !

ah, thanks icedoutncali, much appreciated. I tried a search but couldn't locate that thread.

Man, I am getting a weight of 31 lbs for the stock wheel and tire combo of the 02 Si, basically the same weight of the 99 Si wheel and tire combo. . I know in the thread listed above the weight was discusssed as being 38 lbs total, and about 19 lbs on the rims. I just don't get my scale to read that much weight on my stock rims and tires. I got the 99 Si wheels hoping they would be a few lbs lighter at 15 lbs vs. 19 lbs, but I can't seem to see the difference on my scale.

Those wheels aren't really on the car. It's photochopped. I wish I had them though.

wow, cant believe you're only getting 31lbs. are u 100% sure the scale is correct or set correctly?

JSIR

yeah on my scale I am only getting 31 lbs for our tire and wheel combined. I guess it could be off a few lbs, but it is a brand new scale, home scale though. Funny thing is that I am getting 30 lbs for the 99 Si wheel and 99 Si tire (40% worn) that I also have, and the tires are only a 55 series tire compared to our stock 60 series. So on my scale there is only a 1 lb difference between the two wheel/tire combos, I was expecting a lot more. hmmmmm.

geez...well i'm due for a tire rotation soon, i'll have to break out the scale and double check. do u have any other scales?

yeah let me know what you come up with if you weigh them again, I may try borrowing a scale to compare. Basically I was more concerned with the difference in weight going from the 02 Si rims to the 99 Si rims, ultimate numbers don't mean much, I just wanted to see some weight savings mostly.

how much are 99-00 Si wheels going for anyway?

JSIR

yeah I will take some pics, I am just waiting for some tires to arrive that I ordered. My pics will look better because that photochopped pic is using smaller tires that are used on the 99 Si rims - 55 series vs. 60 series. I didn't realize that pic was chopped, the wheels/tires did look a bit smaller.

I bought my rims for $450 Canadian with decent rubber on them. I sold the rubber for $100 , so overall cost was $350 Canadian. That works out to about $250 US for just the rims. Not sure what the going rate is in your area, but they shouldnt cost very much.

Sounds like a pretty good setup. what brand/make tires are you going to get, and are you gonna go with stock 195s or 205s?

I just ordered the Yokohama AVS ES100's , seem like a great tire for relatively low cost, at Tirerack. I am sticking with the 195/60-15 size to keep the wheel well gap the same, and keep tire weight close to the same. I am guessing the contact patch of the new tires will still be wider than the stock tires despite being the same size tire, from past experience. A good second choice is 205-55-15 but that is a slightly smaller tire by 10 mm in diameter, so wheel well gap is increased further.

Did you know that Honda US is putting those same rims on the 03 Coupe EX!? Not sure if they're going on the Canadian Si though. I'm sure this'll piss a lot of people off, because a couple years ago they were very desireable and worth a lot second hand.
