I'm not really in the market for these right now but this caught my eye. Are these for real type R spec struts? And if so does that make them like the ep3's HFP package or better? Could these actually just be mislabeled type S shocks? Looks like it might be a good deal but shipping is not specified. Just curious - anyone know?

you should contact them and ask for the part number and look it up and see if it matchs, plus i heard these do ride and handle nice in our ep's but hey everyone has there own taste, as far as fitting they do your just going to have too grind the rear bushing or swap in your ep bushing in there i maybe wrong but theres a few diy treads on this.

its probably the same as fitting the dc5 aspec suspension. did you notice that the front spring popped off the strut?:

^this, A-spec kit is a possibility. The fact that the paint is so fresh (my a-spec kit was not that shiney) and given the spring is not set, I'm guessing a rebuild/rattlecan job?

yeah if you ask for the part # u can tell and it will say type r on the base of the shock. I have a set on my ep and they are so awesome. U have to grind down the rear bushing on the bottom of the shock that gos into the lower control arm and you have to replace the end links on the front of the control arms with rsx ones. thats it and your off to the races!!!!!!!!!

They ride alot like the Mugen SS for our Ep3s. Definitely worth the $250 + shipping they are asking. IF they are legit!

Looks like a good deal for someone "IF" they are legit.. So it looks like A Spec = Type R?

Yes, they are very similar. I have personally never seen actual measurements but from what I have read HFP and A-Specs are about -3/4" and Rs are -1". Later A-Spec (05-06) fronts are counter wound from each other but will still fit as long as they are on later A-Spec dampers. In other words late A-Spec front springs will not fit on EP dampers. Well, one will but I digress.

They appear to be non-progressive springs so I don't think they are early A-Specs and they aren't later A-Specs (see above). I don't like that they have been spray painted as you can't see the color coding on the springs but the seller does have a 100% rating.

edit: Just saw the main pic with the color coded springs so coils haven't been sprayed.

This guy is a reputable seller and has the real deal:

I have bought from him and would buy from him again. His are the earlier version I believe. Get's confusing, doesn't it?

To further confound the issue A-Specs are $650 shipped and brand baby spanking new. They require some very simple grinding/filing to fit.
