Not sure if this is posted anywhere already, but this site allows you to check your VIN for free. You're allowed 3 VIN checks a day.

I checked my EP3 and it gave me the correct info, the same number of km's that the previous owner wrote on the bill of sale and it was updated the day I bought the car

Yeah, click on the link with the japanese characters. You're allowed 3 checks a day. who needs to pay for a vincheck when you can do it for free yourself =D

I just did the check and found out that my car has a clean title just like the dealer said when I bought it, but it was a fleet car so 07/06/2004 car had 20 miles and by 08/02/2006 it had 84,000 :( But she runs fine till this day :)

Checked mine out im 2nd owner, didnt know that, but doesnt show where the car was total loss by insurance company. Threw a rod on the a3 and had engine bay fire. Its been completely redone but thought it would atleast show on the vin check since it shows up on the NCIB vin check.

try your state's dmv website.

nj (at least) has links to 3rd party website that do the vin checks for $0-$10. i used the free ones to screen vins and the pay ones for the detailed searches.

I did, but the Colorado one only tells you if it's currently reported as stolen or total loss... lol. Even if it's been stolen and recovered, it goes back to normal.

I could try other states websites I guess.

Anyways, the buy was a bust. Too many issues with the car and the seller didn't want to go low enough to compensate for it.
