how is this going to work? the grill opening is vastly different. unless you plan on lopping off the top portion of the lip

F*cking magic. More or less the same way I got the DC5 Mugen repilca bumper to fit my car. Details aren't important. What is important is sourcing a damaged lip, commit, then make it fit. Seriously, did you assume that I was going to just tape it on or something?

Also, I'm just throwing it out there... Probably not got to make it fit my jdm front bumper. I'll find a junk usdm EP3 bumper somewhere before making it fit.

You work in like collision repair/ paint shop right?

I gotta say that lip looks quite nice
Interested to see this similar design on an ep3.
When's your ETA on this happening?

I do work at a body shop, but this isn't for that. It's more of a hobby. As far as ETA, it really depends when I come up on some parts. Their really isn't a dead line. If I really wanted to, I probably could get it done within 2 days or so. But chances are (once I get the parts) I'd drag it out for a month or so.

Also for anyone that might be wondering, yes, I would change the body lines to make it flow better with the EP. This would just be a starting point of customizing something for the EP again.

Sucka

Do it Ken! You got the experience to make anything happen for the ep.

Yeah I figured it was for hobby, I just ask 'cause I'm assuming that's why you have this mind-set to make this work

still excited to see this happen

Ken can easily pull this off, this front bumper is his last retrofitted body part.....

We're talking about custom-fitting a Camry lip here. The one you posted is a direct-fitting lip...

That Camry lip is not that different, the grill opening looks very similar, it should be able to be fitted with a minimum of work

Please do this. I've been searching for different lips to retrofit for a while. This would be coooooool

Dude, I work at a body shop... I'm looking to get the lip kind of fucked up (since I'm going to be cutting it up anyway) AND I'm going to make my boss put it in my trunk. lol. But really, I'm just waiting to get it for free. If say 2 weeks go by, then I might start looking around for one on ebay.

The thing about the shop I work at is that we do a crap load of custom stuff. Like 70% custom, and 30% insurance... while most shops are the opposite. Like at the moment, we have 20+ show cars... and 4 (or so) insurance jobs. lol.

Direct fit, ha!

And by the way, if anyone has an idea that is remotely interesting, I can try to make time for that also. =) Which reminds me, I have yet to find a OEM 1st gen RSX bumper. Been meaning to retrofit that also.

How about a second gen front end conversion? I'm sure it'd be FAR better looking than the 02-04 front end conversion that is floating around here.

The first gen sucks imo and if he did a second gen he can run one of the many awesome lips they have.

Probably not going to do a front end conversion. Main reason being that my friend spent countless hours retrofitting e46 bi-xenon projectors in my existing headlights. So I'd feel bad about uninstalling them.

I'm the complete opposite. I hate second gen, and love first gen. Though, I do agree that the second gen might be more clean... IMHO, I think that first gen had more personality.

Make it work with your headlights!

Or just get this lip to fit, its prefect IMO

What is that lip called? I'm pretty sure that I can get that one pretty cheap... Not free cheap, but cheap, CHEAP.

Btw, I asked my co worker... who happens to think that we might have the Camry lip that I was looking for. There's a 15ft pile of bumpers and stuff that I'm going to look through tomorrow. So, I'll look through it I guess. Hopefully, I do find it so I can get started on this shit.

Since your a bodyshop guy with some knowledge on our vehicle....I've got a quick question that's a little off subject....is possible to make the 05-06 RSX headlights/bumper work!?

ep3jd
03-12-2011, 07:49 AM
Yes. If the 02-04 front made its way into an ep3, why wouldn't the 05-06 work?

Anything is possible. Its just a matter of mounting locations, custom fabricating brackets if necessary, and sourcing all those parts.

And you'll need more then headlights and a bumper my friend. You'd need a hood, grill, possibly fenders. Etc.

I could give a simple YES or NO, but it's possible to make any bumper work with the right set of skills. I'm pretty sure that headlights bolt right up.

I don't know about that... for the passed 3 days, I've been working 14-16hrs a day since there was a car show today. Had to pump out a shit load of show cars. Was so tired today, that I forgot to look for the lip in that big ass stack of bumpers. You know funny thing about work... They don't believe that I know how to retrofit stuff. Showed them pictures, but still.

Snapped a few pics of the cars in the shop last night, will start a new thread, and post them pics up as soon as I find my memory card reader. If you're interested, you can check out the shop's website. www.dtmautobody.com just click on gallery. Most of those cars were done years ago... AND most of them are show cars that I personally think are borderline rice. meh.

well i've always been interested in body work, period. but the fact that you actually get to do custom stuff and go crazy with dope retro fit stuff on your own ride is definitely cool...

and i think that 15 hour days of customization is better then a 10 hour day of boring ass insurance claim repairs!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't find a Camry lip in the shop. I'm pretty sure that I've said it before, we do 90% (or so) custom work. It's pretty rare for me to find Camry lip. If someone in socal wants to donate a bumper and lip to me, I'll do the work, and give it back to you. I don't necessarily want to keep the Camry lip... I've just been itching to do some custom work on the side.
