don't know how the skunk2 is but with the HKS Hi-Power, the silence does work and lowers the sound. Also gives you a loss in HP but gain in torque.

How much hp will I lose? With skunk2

not sure how much but probably noticeable since the silencer is the size of the oem exhaust

I gained midrange hp and tq through the whole band using the silencer as opposed to without it.

Im safely assuming the silencer is the tip insert?

I had mine on my nsx and it allowed me to pass noise DB at LimeRock a few years ago for an open track day. I know some cars the back pressure adds more midrange and other cars it seems to choke performance a bit. All depends on how the exhaust is setip and of course your general tuning.

The skunk2 is a rather large dia exhaust, far larger than what a EP3 really requires, so it doesnt really add any extra WHP up top than a far quieter setup will, but it does cause the exhaust tone to be very obtrusive and attracts the attention of every lawman within 3 counties! LOL

The inserts still do not make the exhaust legal in most states, the law in almost every state details that the muffler can not be a pass-thru design(which the inserts still preserve). You are just less apt to attract the man's attention though and is a good idea.

Don't mean to thread jack, but talon what dia do you see best? I have a 2.5 and its a dog compared to stock with my rh.. I wanna ditch it so bad. I was going to buy that jp 2" but I don't know yet..

2-2.25" is about optimum for a basically stock/bolton A3

What exhaust do you have? The typical ricer fart can muffler causes significant low and midrange losses, a change to a loop muffler is hands down a better option.

I was thinking about a twin loop, or a vibrant muffler with the 2" jp mid pipe. But I do plan to go k24 this summer. Like on a serious level, not the normal one day I'll have a k24 statement haha. So I don't know what to do with that

If you're k24ing this summer, I'd wait until then to change your current setup. Assuming you're getting Kpro, 2.75" or even 3" set up with good tune will give you nice hp & tq numbers. I have vibrant dual tip stealth muffler + large resonator + 3" + krrh on my z3 swap. Initially, I felt loss in low to mid torque after 3" system installed, but after the tune, woo hoo, what a difference. And my set up isn't loud at all during DD'ing. Of course, when WOT at higher rpm, it roars. Still not raspy though.

With the K24, I would use a custom setup, go with a 2.5" collector/cat section till about 10" into the midpipe area, then step up to 2.75 through the resonator till the axle back/muffler section which should be 3" stealth or loop, then ya got a real power producer that sounds respectable around town cruising and snarls hard as a bitch in heat when the hammer is put down.

The Skunk2 with the insert does sound better than most other exhausts do with the insert in.
