View Full Version : Just mounted my Mini Cooper R81 Wheels

Picked up a used, but clean set of Mini Cooper R81 Imola wheels (a.k.a. "Holies"). I got an amazing deal on them considering the tires are almost new, came with center and Mini valve caps.

They have replaced my steelies as my new temporary wheels until I find something I like (which I'm selling the steelies to cover most of the costs for these wheels). These will also double as my winter wheels. These wheels require tapered or "V" shaped lug nuts, instead of the typical Honda ball-shaped ones, so I am using my Rays lugs on these.

The width is nothing to brag about, but the weight is! I wanted to post some pictures for reference in case other people were considering these wheels or other Mini kinds, and to let them know that they're a direct fit with no issues. These are the lightest wheels Mini makes.

Specs:
15x5.5
185/65/15 (lol)
4x100
+45 Offset
12 lbs.
56.1mm center bore (exact fit with our hubs).

These normally come in the silver shown or white, but I don't have plans to paint these.

Edit: These pictures were photographed with a 5D Mark II and an EF 50mm f/1.4 in case you were wondering.

Those actually look pretty darned good. Too narrow for me, but if they came in a 8" wide I'd rock them.

LOL, fair enough.

No doubt about that. A lot of the Mini owners wished they came in at least a 6" or 6.5" version. I actually wanted the Mini 17x7 S-Lites wheels after seeing them once on a black EP on this board, but after seeing how they weigh 25 lbs. each, I didn't want them anymore. These are the S-Lites:

I've always liked the styling cues from European wheels, and wanted to try something a little different.

They look fucking awesome! I love it.

There was a black set like the ones above for sale locally (off a clubman, $800). I couldn't get them, but if I had the money...

Ha! Those are the wheels that came with my dad's 2004 Cooper, and I think they look better on our cars. The S-lites mimic the mini-lites popular on british sports cars in the 60s and 70s, my dad has them on his 1977 Triumph Spitfire. Personally i think they're kind of period specific and don't look that good past 15", maybe 16".

^ Ah! You found the picture! The car is pretty much my twin lol. I still want those wheels in my mind, but they're too heavy for me to call them S-"Lites". :-C

Nice, I dig 'em. I look for sets of the OEM BBS wheels that some coopers got on Ebay fairly often. Mini wheels are pretty good size/offset for our cars.
