Today, EPHatch Member : CivicSiR4u2nv and myself met up to test fit the Xenon Depot kit on his new EP hatch.

The Test install took us about 5 minutes no joke!

We wanted to test fit the kit as we have read numerous threads with people having difficulty with HID's and the EP hatch.

The www.xenondepot.com kit is a Philips conversion kit. The kit we installed was a 6k! The Philips kit has only low beams, it does not have the high beams.

The pics are not the greatest!!! its a very basic digi cam, im sorry!
The lights look amazing in person and im sure James will also post up to confirm how great they look!

Here is a pic of the headlights with "hyper white" bulbs:

Here are two pics of the 6k Philips kit installed:

Here are two pics of the beam pattern, do realize the picture quality is horrible it is a basic digi cam!

Some info on the product:
XenonDepot Philips HID Conversion Kits

XenonDepot strives to provide our customers with the most advanced HID conversion kits available in the market. Our kits are designed to offer our customers a simple and effective HID conversion that is designed specifically for your individualized application.

Alternate suppliers will offer you similar kits at similar pricing however our product's core competency is that we use custom molded bases designed to plug right into your vehicle's OEM headlamp assembly. In essence, we DO NOT use machined fittings with an adapter ring glued on. As a result, our kits perform better and provide optically correct beam patterns.

The XenonDepot HID kit is comprised of both Philips bulbs and ballasts to ensure both the quality and longevity of our product.
Also each kit comes inlcuded with 2 individual wiring harnesses (1 per side) that include upgraded wiring, fuses, and relays. These harnesses will simply plug into your OEM harness with no modification.

Civic Dude is not joking in how long it took to wire the kit in. As for the lighting it was simply amazing to see how much more these lights put out compared to my eurolite hyerwhites. My jaw literally hit the floor when I saw the difference between them. :p Also the beam pattern is crisp and sharp unlike retrofitted systems where the pattern is scattered. I

I will be discussing groupbuy pricing once the groupbuy clears with the webmaster. Also i would like to see if there is an interest in the product!

!! F Y I !!

I would also like to mention Some vehicles might be able to power up HID systems normally without problems at install time. Most probably, it will not last long. The inrush load can be up to max 13 amps per ballast, compared to 7amps inrush when using halogen. The factory design parameters for headlight curcuit is 7 amps inrush and 4.5 amps continous load.

So over time, connectors, multifunction switch, headlight switch, wiring and fuse holders will slowly degrade, beacuse of heat buildup. These components are very time consuming to troubleshoot becuse they are usully well hidden behind dashboards and other wiring looms. Parts easily reaches several hundered dollars. Add 8h labour to that and it becomes obvious that getting a proper HID kit to begin with was well worth it!

EDIT: i realize this might sound confusing so:

By using a cheap kit, or a bmw retrofit kit you can run into problems.

with our kit you will avoid those problems. We have the proper wiring harnesses and fuses and connectors so that you will have a proper and safe conversion!

they look good........so I assume these are "beam pattern corrected" and they have shields correct? Can you post a pic of just the bulb itself please?? I know H4 has the hardest problem being HID fitted since it uses low/high beam for the same bulb. Will there be any low/high beam kits?? And yes Id like to know pricing and do you offer the 4100k version??

CIVIC dude

The H4's do come with the shield. It does help correct the beam pattern, we have pics above of the beam but remember i have a shitty camera and that is just the box of the HID kit not a wall.

We do also carry the Philips 4100K kit. It would be a special order though. Philips does not make a high/low kit so unfortunately we do not have one.

I will announce groupbuy pricing as soon as it is cleared with the webmaster of the site.

As promised here are the pics of the H4 bulbs!

The day when you have Hi/Lo H4 I will be more than happy to buy one set in a heartbeat. Please don't tell HI beam is not important...

What is the difference between 6000k and 4001k blubs? Which is brighter and natural white?

CIVIC dude

difference between 6k and 4k

4k is more brighter white light
6k is more purply blue like the bmw's

This is the 4k the 6k can be seen in my original post.

high beams are important. Some people dont mind loosing them so its a personal prefrence choice.

The 4100k will be "better" for light output compared to the 6000k version. The 4100k is whiter and "brighter" and like he said the 6000k version is "purple/blueish" color but sacrificing a little white light output on the ground. Either way you choose..youll have better light performance then your Halogen competitors.

Ok for the "Philips kit" there is no such thing. Philips does not produce an HID kit. They produce the parts such as the ballast and bulbs......they do not put together "HID kits". Different companies put together kits using Philips parts and Sylvania parts. I assume Xenon Depot made their own kit and other companies like autolamps-online, suvlights.com, K2 is another brand. But companies call the Kits Philips kits becuase they do use their parts. Im not bashing just clarifying.

On the H4 bulb I dont know if its me or maybe Im just picky but the shield can maybe use some flat black paint to reduce "shine" "glare" from reflecting upward. Looks like both sides need to be painted with some flat black non reflective paint so no light can "shoot" up or anywhere causing glare or that "yellowish" color on the 4100k bulbs. Like I said before Im not bashing...just thought maybe I can help out.

Now for another question....on the wall pictures is that just one beam or both beams on??as in driver or driver and passenger?

CIVIC dude

No problem, clarification is always good!

the beam pics are of just the HID on. They truly are crappy pics, the pic was taken holding a box up and taking the pic.

4100k is the brightest. Most of the people i know would rather have the 5k or 6k becuase it looks more like the bmw's.

CIVIC dude: Is there a way we can retrofit a set of 100w fog lamps into our grille or bumper, since your kit eliminates High beams?

CIVIC dude
12-24-2002, 03:38 PM
If you have the stock fogs that go in the lower bumper you can wire those up to be your High beams!

I_VTEC
12-24-2002, 04:32 PM
Not to be fogs, to be highs. Your HID kit is only low beam. We need highs! :(

sorry my last response i was typing faster then i was thinking...

HID low beams and the fogs turn on for high beams! that would work!

Try to get a REALLY good deal for the groupbuy if possible. not the average deal you can get just about everywhere, not trying to be pushy, just want to make sure all my pennies will be enough to buy this kit :)

CIVIC dude

Im working on setting up an official groupbuy.

I will have pricing and a new thread started as soon as everything is setup.

Do realize there are cheaper kits out there. We know this. The main goal of the XenonDepot HID kit is to provide a professional HID solution.

The kit is completely plug and play! Philips bulbs and ballasts

These are just a couple of many threads, do a search for Xenon Depot and you will find many threads with happy customers!
