So I had a friend with some wheels laying around in his pit of tires and he didn't realize that my little Honda was a 5 lug so we test fitted them on and they stuck out a crap ton in the rear. So we contemplated our idea and set out to fit some negative offset on an EP3. The rear is still looking kind of rough but it's still a work in progress and my deadline is Import Alliance 2011 Summer meet. We had started out with a 205/50/16 tire on the rear and this is how it turned out:

But the so called rubbing that my friend had said was fine turned bad after I had left pool league :meek: :mcry: :

http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/189178_10150131023889556_505189555_6267487_5969363 _n.jpg

So the stock rears had to be put back on and I have been bummed and stressed that i had ruined tires and everything so I worked on it for 3 hours after work yesterday and it came out looking a lot nicer and I will have pics up after I go wash the car. Figured I'd tease the EPHatch community a bit.

P.S. What kind of wheels are these? See if you can guess.

put the rears in the front and the front move to the rear.... then post the pics.
those looks so NICE. put some rubbing compound on those wheels and polish the Shiite out of it.

The rears on the front works even worse because they stick out 2 inches outside the front fender. And I do plan on redoing the wheels. The first step is getting them to fit.

We tried the 16x8's on the front first because yes it is FWD and yes I was thinking hmm these should go on the front but it doesn't work out quite as well. It rubs on the inside wheel well and I can't do anything about that. I don't plan on tubbing the front end.

How much camber are you running in the rear? Should run some smaller tires.

Piga

Not sure on exact camber but I'm guessing -2 or more..And it is currently running a 195/50/16 tire on the rear now. Will have pics up late tonight.

I do agree that the overall design of the wheel goes well with the Ep shape, but the fitment is horrible.

i agree. on my fa i wanted to see how much - camber i could run and i hit -7 and that was resting against the metal fuel line. the fitment looks nice from the side but i bet from the rear it looks gross haha.

whats the offset on the front?

Man, I miss my 1986 Mitsubishi Starion Esi-R. Loved everything about that car except the lack of available parts and lack of reliability. The guys on Starquestclub are swapping 1JZ's and 2JZ's into them now. Oh, with Nas too, cause I know one of you jackasses is going to post that pic...

This is impossible. The fronts should fit with camber. I don't see how you are rubbing... where exactly are you rubbing?

The rear tires rub on the rear quarter's on bumps. I don't want to run a lot of negative camber on the front because that's where where all the handling is. The front's rub on turns and bumps as well because I have not raised the front at all (kind of don't want to raise it..).

Looks heavy but the 16x8's are surprisingly much lighter than a stock 16" Si wheel with tire on.

The look is growing on me so much. And people are literally stopping to stare. :)

Ummm....

Ok first of all you will have less rubbing in the rear if you put the 7's there instead of the 8's. That's obviously a no brainer not to mention not only are the rears an inch wider but also -10mm more. We have far less room in the back also so that's kinda common sense as well. Second putting negative camber in the front will not hinder handling it will actually improve it quite a bit ( you want more in the front then rear.. it will keep the car from pushing).

I agree with Rob. Do the reverse staggered and actually make that combo usable. If not, go over to Starquestclub and get two 87-89 Conquest/Starion rear 16x9's for the front of your Ep3. That way you'll at least have a somewhat more balanced ride.

Still not my cup of tea. Hellaflush Ep3 guys have to go through a set of wheel bearings a year with crazy hellaflush dumps like this. I've had to replace both my rear wheel bearings and that was only from using 235/35/18's on 18x7.5's +35 for a couple of seasons. Crazy offset just causes way too much stress on the rear bearings.

Really? I mean I don't drive my ep much but I had 16x8 +10 for a season with no problems.

Actually my rear is making a little noise... After I do the 5 lug I'll check the bearings and see what kind of damage I may have done.

I didn't think I had any problems either, until low and behold yearly NYS inspection time came around and the mechanic told me I had a little extra wiggle in one of my back rims while it was up on the rack. Checked it myself and yup, new wheel bearing needed. The other rear (drivers side) was about 7-8 months later when I was swapping rims and found play once again (except on the passenger side). Oh well, they're fixed now.

Maybe it was just their time, but crazy hellaflush rear camber can't help with extra stress on the rear bearings with rims like these.

Even though that's a bit much i still think it would look way better then those 16x8 -10's. lol those are a bit much four our cars , but i sure do love the style of the wheels. I wish more companies would start making old school wheels in more friendly sizes.

Thanks guys, and actually went to the body shop yesterday to get some quotes on all the dents on my car and we realized that while rolling the rear quarters it had put tension on the metal and had stretched it but in random spots, so while getting my dents fixed the EP will also be converted to fit low offset wheels/wide wheels in the rear, however you want to look at it.

The dents that are getting fixed are on the A-Pillar and were already quoted at $500 to fix but now both sides minus doors will be fixed for $1000. Hella good deal for the fact that my dude said the drivers side is going to take 12 hours and the passenger side is going to take 15 hours.

The main deadline for this to be done is Summer IA '11 but the wheels should be done by June. Should look DOPE!
