So i blew up my a3 about 5 months ago. Was gettin on it in second and it just shut off. Car was misfiring bad and at every stoplight it would shut off. Had to give the car tons of gas to get it restarted.Got it home and checked the coils and plugs and that wasnt the problem so i took off the valvecover and took the cams out. Found that one valvespring wasnt seated and it had a cracked retainer. Car had intake shorty header exhaust and hondata reflash. What do u guys think happened? Im guessing my car just didnt like the extra revs from the reflash. Im doin an a1 swap but do you guys think my bottomend is shot? I only had compression in 2 cylinders and the other 2 werent great.

sounds like bent valves? jumped timing?

probably bent a valve, happened to my a3 but i couldnt even drive it home it was so bad

car ended up jumping timing

Haha i drove it a few timea after it blew jus to be a douche. Never did finally blow up...and i wonder why it happened so easily my car only had 48000 miles on it.

mine only had 41k when it blew but i also had stage 3 cams

Haha well that'll do it. Im runnin skunk 2 stage 2s and supertech valvetrain in my a1. Got a circuit hero lower chain guide and 06+ si upper guide so i hope they do what they are supposed to if my tensioner fails!
