Hey guys and gals,

If some of you were fortunate enough to come across a good deal on a JDM EP3 / DC5 steering wheel, follow these instructions and you should be able to retain the cruise control buttons and the dual stage airbags.

***perform this DIY at your own risk***
***power down SRS prior to servicing***

Step 1
- Power down SRS
- Disconnect battery negative and let stand for more than 3 minutes

Step 2
- Remove OEM steering wheel
- thisisagame24's DIY (http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?43643-DIY-Stock-Steering-Wheel-Removal)

Step 5:
- Transfer the dual stage USDM detonator onto the JDM airbag

Step 6 onwards:
- Install is reversal of these steps

Voila!
I didn't get any SRS light and my cruise control still works properly.
Stay tuned for a DIY in this thread on the cruise control switch transfer.

It's really easy. Honda advises you in the WSM (workshop manual) that:

- you must remove the negative terminal from the battery, then
- wait 3 minutes or more, then
- you can wokr on SRS components

Yes, I got that since I have an FSM but most don't, and the way you have it written doesn't say that disabling the srs is by waiting 3min...just asking for you to clear it up for members...:mwink:

I'm responding from work and they have the picture blocked. I'm assuming it's the four detonator bolts. The are shaped like a socket style but they aren't. They're wierd. I ended up using some locking pliers. I locked them onto the nuts and gently twisted then off and on. Not entirely complicated. A little patience is required. Very doable.

is there anyway to switch the whole airbag? not just the detonator.

You need to remove the airbag to get the wheel off anyways. So, the answer to your question is yes.
