St Louis Airport Tornado...

So on Friday night the St Louis Airport was hit by a tornado. On Monday I parked my poor ep there while I went to FL. After seeing all the pictures I don't know what I will fined when I get back. It might be time for a new car :mcry: Since the airport is now closed I get to fly into Chicago which is 4 hours away so I won't see the ep until Monday, but don't worry pics will come.

Leave it to mother nature to bend tuners over. Id laugh if the ep3 was parked next to a bunch of american cars and they were wrecked and the ep3 came out fine lol. in for pics for sure.

Ok, I got my EP back not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Windsheild is cracked, the whole car is dented and scratched to hell, even the wheels. It is going to need a whole new paint job. I was lucky compaired to the others around me. I will keep you guys up to date with what insurance wants to do. I did get picks, but dont have time to get them up tonight. But the are coming.

Ok I just got back from the body shop and they say its totaled! The whole car needs to be repainted, all new glass, wheels, everything. Over $11,000 for the repairs!

$11k? WTF!? WOW! If I were you, go to another bodyshop. Is your insurance company gonna cover it? or are they saying its not worth it?? The damage doesnt look too bad from the pictures, just looks like alot of minor scratches and chips. My old celica had the entire rear 1/4 pannel pushed in after my accident, they had to replace the entire 1/4 pannel, rear bumper, trunk pannel, hatch, rust work and a full paint job and it was only $7k for all of that.

I think the reason it is so high is because my insurance wants Honda glass put back in and all new moldings and everything. They are being awesome so far. The pics dont really show all the damage it is a lot worse in person. The twister was Friday and the car is already starting to rust in the spots that are chipped!

I was thinking the same thing. I am just not seeing $11,000 in damage. I wrecked my e30 and smashed the entire side where a guard rail went into the car, rear quarter, door, inside damage from the guard rail going inside the car, bumper and rear lights and my quote was $4500.

The pics are not showing all the damage...it is covered in dents from hail and everything flying around, also it has deep scratches all over, and the windows and moldings are all cracked and scratched. It is way wores in person.

Ok, I got another quote for repair and it was around $8,000. Insurance still wants to total it. So I was able to strip all my parts off of it. Here is a before the storm and after picture. Check out my for sale thread!

The only bad part of buying the totaled car back, is that it is now salvage, and in order to be re-licensed, the car must be returned to the same state it was in when it left the dealership(in most states). NO AFTERMARKET parts whatsoever are allowed, ONLY replacement OEM body panels are allowed(no repairs to panels, they must be 100% dent free). I have attempted to deal with this out here in NY several times, it is just far too costly in alot of cases to get a salvaged titled car back on the road. It is far easier to purchase a severly beat used car with a good shell and transfer everything over from the salvaged car. I had a car denied because OEM bolts were not used during reassembly.

hmm its a shame its not a bit older. if the car is over 10 years old it doesn't need a salvage tittle, just buy it back fix it and set to go. maybe see how much the insurance company will give ya and look for something that you can put some of your parts on.
