Hello fellow ephatchers,

I recently purchased a 6 pt auto power cage from a fellow member on here, and am having some issues with getting it to fit in my car. I dont know how many members on here have had the auto power 6 pt cage, I've contacted the couple I know of directly, but I figured I'd see if anyone has ideas

I have the main rear portion in place, but I am having problems with the forward bars. They seem to be too long, by about an inch or two, and when the mounting plates are flat on the floor, the bars angle down considerably, and dont meet up with the nubs coming off the main rear portion. :mfrown:

Here are some pics to try to show what I'm seeing

I've never installed a roll cage before, so if there is something that I dont have right, or if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.'

Thanks

-Teal

So I havnt messed with an auto power, but looking at it, I would say you have 1 of 2 issues, first, you probably want to get that upper rail into the hoop first, if anything is bolted up I would unbolt it to allow more wiggling, and maybe try getting the rear legs out and trying to get the front in, then the rear legs...

Or they inteded you to trim your dash...

nothing is bolted in place yet. I dont think the rear legs would be able to slide on if the hoop all the way back... I guess I could try that but im pretty sure that wouldn't work. I thought about the trimming of the dash, but im fairly certain other people have had this in their car without cutting...

Sucka

Do you know for sure if it is a dash escape cage or a through dash set up? To me how it looks in the picture is there is no room to fit those bars together straight since there is no front to back movement of the hoop or forward bars. Unless the forward bars were in, and the hoop brought to them and fitted, meaning through dash or cut atleast through the little shelf pocket/tray. Does the glove box still open with how you have it now?
This is how my Mugen dash escape cage fits, and I still had to move it back from the dash about an inch for the glove box to open. which put the hoop feet right up against the corner

I'm pretty sure the autopower does not require the dash to be cut. It looks like that is the only way it could fit, but I really dont want to do that right now. Im not sure about the glove box, its out of the car at the moment.

Just cut the cage and drill a new hole....haha. Thats what it looks like you might have to do.

Give autopower a call.... looks like it might be the through dash kit (pretty sure that's an option). Might just have to trim the front bars were they bolt into the main hoop.

take the rear bars out so you can tilt back the mid section so you can slide the front bars into the mid section. have someone else on the other side help you do the same thing
