View Full Version : New Color for the egg?

So unfortunately I got into an accident yesterday with the ep3 :mfrown:
I wound up losing control on a wet road yesterday and ended up in someone's flower bed. I'm gonna need new paint on practically every panel of the car since shale rocks tore up the paint pretty good. My question is what color should I do?!

I'm gonna do an entire exterior paint so options are pretty open, although I'm liking the Idea of keeping it white.

I have white wheels ready to go on the car however, so other colors definitely can be thrown in the mix.

My 2 Options I've narrowed down for white are...

Grand Prix White (from s2k's and NSX's)
http://ivyleagueeast.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/4537373042_f66fc2f017_b.jpg

or

Starfire Pearl (from the ISF)
http://www.iputinwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/isf_vsfx_01.jpg

What do you think?
I also thinking a deep red might be nice, or maybe even Euro Yellow :mangel:

What to do?!?!?!

why not champ white?

For the same reason I'm not considering taffeta. It's too much of a creamy white with a plain clearcoat. I wanted to look for colors that were as white as white can get or had a pearl or metallic finish.

Another color I was thinking of was Platinum White Pearl

They make a white chocolate pearl thats a great color of the 05 f-150 that is a beautiful color,me and a friend of mine painted a 69 camaro that color and it looked sick alot of pearls in it and it really cuts up in the sun.

Awesome suggestions guys!

I'm torn now between a pearl or plain finish

I like Grand Prix White(s2000) and Wicked White (evox) for plain finish.
but
The Starfire Pearl and White Chocolate Pearl look nice too.

any other colors you guys think the EP3 would look good in? I'm open to suggestions since my wheels will match anything.

I've also been thinking of doing a GM Laguna Green Metallic.
My fathers truck is this color from the factory and it has some awesome color changing properties. Sometimes it's blue, sometimes it's green.

I'll post some pictures up tomorrow of the damages. It shouldn't be totaled, I'm praying it isn't.

I saw one today and my heart melted.... I really think I'm gonna pull the trigger on that one. Price is the only issue now, if GPW will be significantly cheaper I'm going to pick it. Other than that, my heart is set on NSBP. Also, might be picking up a type r replica wing from local owner ep3_2_envy! :thumbu: Should be interesting ;)

I've been gandering on BMW colors and they're all either TOO BLAND or TOO FLASHY for the taste of an ep3. Definitely some really dope colors though, just not in the typical car category that Civics normally fall into.

damn sorry about the accident man. at least everything but the paint stayed intact. i'd say grand prix white just because of how clean it looks when it's taken care of. the blue from the crz would be a bit much for my taste but i think with white wheels it could look really good on an EP3. biggest thing no matter what color you choose is quality of the paint prep/work itself.

good luck!

Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words.
Unfortunately it's gonna need quite a bit of body work as well. But it shouldn't be too much to handle for a good body shop. My #1 priority is to find a good shop that can do quality work, even white will look like shit with bad prep/paint. So if I do bite the bullet on the NSBP I'm going to make sure it's a good shop that can properly paint a car.
I'm thinking of having a few other parts painted black as well to pull off a little different of a look. (Roof, spoiler, front grill, rear bumper in the middle)

What about white roof, white spoiler, white wheels? With the CRZ color posted above.

Then just a touch of black on the rear bumper and front grill could tie it together?

a two tone is just gonna come out tacky imo unless you just do white with a black hood/roof. if you do a flashy color like the crz teal i don't think it would look all that great with anything white other than the wheels. the flashiness of the color will be enough to catch your eye, so adding to it with a white roof and whatever else would rice it out for me. i like really simple, clean paint jobs though i guess..

Due to the clean nature and easy color scheming I'm most likely going with Grand Prix white. Milano Red was definitely considered though, maybe for a time attack strip if I re-paint my wheels.

On another note, I was thinking about getting the FULL AUTHENTIC Buddy Club kit. What do you guys think, Too much rice? Or authentic Ep3 racing goodness?

the buddy club kit looks kinda shitty to me to be honest with you. whether its rice or not i just hate the look of the massive front bumper. i think the best thing to do would be to get jdm bumpers if you have the cash or just get stock bumpers and fill in the bumper light holes before you paint. you could also fill in the sidemarker holes and get some serious JDM swag.

on a side note, it seems as if your panels all got fucked in the absolute worst places to fix so that's a bummer.

glad you're going with grand prix white though that's a sick color. way better than champ white.

I love the front bumper :mangel: I think it's a perfect compliment for a splitter and also makes the car appear lower than it is. I was more worried about the rear bumper, but I've seen recent pics I like of it. Just gotta paint the rear metal grill black to keep the space looking open, rather than chikin wire silver.
Also, the BC kit is what is making me want to do white. If I go with OEM bumpers I'll definitely be doing the CRZ color North Shore Blue Pearl and a volvo lip.

I've thought about a Buddy Club front and sides w/hfp rear lip and TR spoiler. It's all gonna come down to whatever is cheapest and most available. Right now the buddy club is looking good.

on a side note, it seems as if your panels all got fucked in the absolute worst places to fix so that's a bummer.
Yeah, but the rear quarter is in good shape still, I think I'll just need to get new rockers welded on and shaped. I really plan on getting side skirts to hide any imperfections on the rocker panel. So, that as long as the skirts fit perfectly I won't have to worry about what's underneath

I'm doing as much of the R & I as I can in order to already cut down on costs. We're working on it in stages, first thing to do is get the parts and do the body work to get everything fitted. Once we do that I guess I'll know more about our plans for Prep/Paint. I REALLY want the blue :mangel: it shouldn't be TOO much more than white I hope

Idk if I trust myself block sanding the entire car... I'd rather let him prep the car and know it's gonna be a finish he can fully stand by. Have you had experience sanding before? Good luck! :thumbu: I really hope the car turns out great though, you've got some awesome colors in mind. :msmile:

Side Note: Lamin-x protective covering for the Bumper, Fenders and Hood? I want to get some put on to protect the new finish, but IDK the cost or long-term effectiveness. I'd be most worried about the lamin-x yellowing/hazing. Not that good plastic protectant would't help avoid that.... IDK!!! :nervous:

Disagree HIGHLY!! It just has to be done correctly, with a slight drop and flush rims. With a real JDM Buddy Club kit, you'll also need all the correct rebars like you would with JDM bumpers. What most people see around here is Chinese DM Buddy Club replica kits, which use our rebars and make the kit look HIDEOUS!!

Nope, it won't be salvage title. The car was totaled due to the cost of repairs not the type of damage.
It's just that the "body shop" I went to for the work is only one guy doing paint/prep and one other guy helping with tear down and re-installation. He's a custom shop that focus' on project cars and classic cars. I'll post up an intro thread when I'm done.

The shop is called "Driven Creations"

Standard issue? Idfk really, but it's gonna be a regular ol' title. The car is still registered and insured

FINALLY!!!!!! :mangel::mangel::mangel::mangel::mangel:

The car comes back Monday. I'll post up a few teaser shots with my gf's camera once I get it in the sunlight. This bitch is bright, blinding bright, like blinding bright big ginger tits.

The front is a cheap custom alternative :shady::shady::shady: I came up with despite all the other options of lips and JDM candy I could've had. I decided not to shave the bumper lights. BAD CHOICE! oh well....

Till Monday... Godspeed
