tire rack recommends 205/50/17. i have 17x7.5 +45 wheels

i checked a tirecalculator and another size i was looking at was

225/45/17

so my question is...which would you run and why? also why does tirerack recommend 205/50/17 for a 17x7.5 wheel?

205/50/17 or 225/45/17

those two sizes are closest i can get to stock without making the diameter smaller than stock. stock is 205/55/16

Tire rack always recommends small tires so you don't run into fitment issues. What are you dropped on?

trying to keep the overall tire/wheel size bigger than stock because i still have wheelgap
making it any smaller would make my car oooogglyy

215 / 45 or 225 / 45 if you want a bit more meat. Check my members ride thread I have 225 / 45 tires.

I am running 225/45/17 on my car. I'm dropped 2" on Neuspeed race springs. 17x7 +42 offset and I had to roll my rear fender and also roll the fronts just slightly. I ran about 2* camber in the rear too for just a little extra insurance. I rubbed a little on the little white plastic bumper tab in the rear on hard bumps but that was it. I'm sure you'll be perfectly fine though with your 1" drop and the +45 offset.

I've got 225/45r17 in the front with no problems on HFP, but went with 215 in the back due to rumors of tire rubbing.

I know this thread is like a week old but here. I'm on 17x7.5 +41 currently on 215/40R17. Ksport coilovers dropped almost all the way. No fender roll or pull and no rubbing. I've had 225/40R17s on the car and all fit fine.

If you want to go 235 then I'm pretty sure you need to roll with a little negative offset. but 225s should be fine

i was planning getting some 17x8 47mm offset wheels
i wanted to go with a 205 tire but couldnt decide on 45 or 50 aspect ratio
ive got about 1.75" drop on megan lowering springs, not much tire gap now (maybe half inch) but i wanted to make sure that 205/45/17s wouldnt leave any more than i already have
anybody know?

With that offset, I think you'll have trouble

the wheels im lookin at also come with in a 35mm offset.
i thought the stock 04-05 wheels had a 45mm offset, so why would 47 have fitment issues?
it looks like there is at least an inch between the inside of the stock wheels and the springs
