Anyone running a shifter extender ie. Circuit Hero? I just ordered one for myself after test driving my EP3 with one (borrowed from a friend). Not sure if it really improves ergonomics since the dash mounted EP3 shifter is already close to the steering wheel for quick shifts but I can tell you it does bring the knob even closer to the wheel. Anyone else running one and how do you like it?

Not the Circuit Hero, but a 2" version of it.

here is a quick one that i made just testing stuff out for my future lineup of shift extenders. i actually like driving with it on. lol and this is much bigger than a final version will be.

i like it. It does make the shift knob closer to the wheel, so i guess its better. Just curious, how much is the circuit hero one? they have knock off on ebay for less than $10

1. I wasnt aware, so I assume your running one to? How you like it?

2. Cool beans, how you like it?

3. Whoa that thing is beefy lol. How you like it?

surprisingly a lot. i always thought shift extenders were pretty lame, then i made that one and liked it. less hand/arm movement and the leverage makes it almost go in gear by itself(that one is like 5" lol).

one model ill be selling is just like the CH one, of course not with the hefty price tag though.

I have both the 3" EBAY version and the 2" EBAY version as well as the Buddy Club 1" extension. Of all three, I prefer the 2" extension. The throws with my Neuspeed SS are reasonable and the distance to the steering wheel is minimal compared to using the Mugen shift knob (LONG version, not KNOB version). When I describe reasonable, I mean shorter throws than stock, but less than when I was using the Mugen shift knob with the Neuspeed SS. Honestly, I have had alot of compliments with the setup and I like the throw, so I would do it again if I ever had a second Ep3 with a Buddy Club SS or a Neuspeed SS.

meh the shifter extension is cool, but the ebay one that i copped is not weighted so it feels flimsy. i'd be down for a circuit hero one if it wasn't $40 lol

And people say rednecks do goofy stuff, sorry guys but those extensions look like ape hangar handle bars, cartoonish looking,,,, This thread is the very first time I seen one of these installed on a EP3 and I almost popped a hernia laughing so hard when I seen the pictures of the 3" extension. I thought the 1" extension supplied with the BCSS was excessive......

I had one a long time ago, hated it. Your shifts become so much longer. Take a look at this:

http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/9136/shifter1ps7.gif

Our shifters are already at the ideal location, directly across from the steering wheel. Why you'd want to mess up the geometry of the shifter is beyond me.

2. You think shifter extenders look best in floor mounted shifters?
Is it because the EP3 already has a dash mounted shifter and this is unnecessary?
Is this really a race set up?
Im just rocking one for the hell of it, but if it slows down my shifts/affects me ie. makes shifting less efficient in a negative way then I can just sell the piece down the road. I like the novelty/funkyness of it but if the thing is no good for performance im not running it.

Most floor shifters need a little more height, so the distance from the steering wheel to the shifter isnt as great.

Absolutely NOT ! it is 100% a street fad on a EP3, it places the shifter in a position that is not as natural of a movement

It sure is a novelty and most certainly is funky.....

i think the shifter feels perfect in the stock location. just for shits n gigs it would be funny to mock up a foot long or more extender to look like one of those badass truck drivers. and you could even put a snake head knob on it for more lols

I have one but i dont use it. i bought it used off a guy with a skunk2 knob. I hate how it looks and the fact that its a fad....i try and avoid these gimicky fads.

For every day driving its in a very inconvenient spot. Every time i reach for the radio i smack it.

Also, i feel like the extra leverage + the weight of the skunk knob cant be a good thing for the cables/bushings/syncros. The throw is increased obviously and because of the increased leverage, it creates a very dead feeling when shifting. I dont like that.

The only positive for me was that there is absolutely no doubt about what gear you are in. You would have to be pretty special to get the wrong gear with it. Thats not really a problem i ever have anyways, so i cant justify using it.

But hey, if you like all this sort of stuff, give it a shot.

I always thought those giant ones were just for show. I didn't think people would actually daily drive with them..

i liked my shifter extension, but it doesnt look well with my shift knob, it makes my shift throw longer which bothered me b/c i was looking for a shorter throw lol
