Expansion Valve access???

How do you get to the Expansion valve? Do I need to take the whole dash off just to get to this thing?


And why is it that in Houston Texas, the forth largest city in the US, is it so hard to get parts for the A/C or even radiator hoses. Hi Lo, and Advance don't carry them in town. They had one compressor, but when i got the old one off to compare, it was not the right one.... It's really frustraiting

If you have the factory service manual, it is on page 815-816. Let me know if you need it, I can e-mail it to you.

I just downloaded it. It is what I feared, I have to take the whole dash off to get to it......great. Thanks for the help

umm you dont have to take the dash out, just did it to my car.

I don't have the manual in front of me, but you take the glove box out, cut the plastic across the bottom of the dash(there is actually markings on the plastic to do this and it won't be seen so don't worry), then you can take the blower motor out and have access to the evaporator.

Just looked at it again... you are right, but the car is back together, the a/c is blowing cold and i have an extra expansion valve in the garage. Thanks for the clarification for future DIYers
