272 duration and what lift on what lobe, what head, and what pistons?

You should clay the engine.

I ran IPS K2's with a 50 degree VTC on the short stroked K20, here is it's specs.,,,

Intake - duration (lift)
low speed lobe: 253 (9.25mm)
high speed lobe: 302 (13.28mm)

Exhaust - duration (lift)
low speed lobe: 246 (8.10mm)
high speed lobe: 295 (11.84mm)

That will be a lot of cost for stage1 cams

How do you lock the VTC to 50 degrees to clay the motor that's what I don't understand. Or is there an adjustable cam gear made for this for the K-series

You have to take the cover plate off and mechanically lock/jamb it at full rotation. Use a plastic or wood object to prevent damage.
