So i bought the car and it was winter time so i didnt check the a/c. Now that it is summer i try the a/c and its blowing regular air or maybe even a little warmer. Should i just go to an auto store buy refrigerant and recharge it? or should i do other things to check if the a/c unit is ok.

Definitely other things to check out first man before you go buy refrigerant.

If you can get ahold of a Tech Manual look through that..

it could be the condenser

compressor..

my AC system failed and it turned out to be a simple 20$ switch near the battery on a Hard AC line..

if you have an old can of it with a gauge you can check for pressure. its a good start.

First thing id do is pull a vacuum on it and see if it leaks, holds vacuum...but like others have said it could be many things...

Also check fuses?

Condenser is cheap. 100 max, I replaced mine last year but I don't remember what I paid since it was through my job.

You'll have to have the ac charged. So maybe 4 cans of 134a a can of oil charge, and the hose to do it.

Why does he say it needs to be replaced?

Need to pull a vacuum on the system first or it wont work well...my suggestion is have the autoparts store do it, since their machine can pull a vacuum and introduce the freeon

no replys, i want this fixed is 240 a good price to have them pay for the condenser install it and recharge it? like i said i found the condenser on ebay for 66 bucks others are like 75 or 80 this guys condenser is 110. The lines are already on the car like i see them at the front its not like i need to install the lines. so should i buy the condenser and mount it myself then take it somewhere to get it vacuumed and charged? i think id save a bit of money like that.... how much would a place charge to have it vacuumed and charged? or would it be safer to give it to the guy please let me know by asap i am burning here.
