I picked up a creampuff 90 wagon. its a 2wd automatic (thats being converted), with A/C and cruise. the engine is gone, but that really doesn't matter. the car is dirty, but is the most structurally sound 20 year old car I've seen. no damage (other than sheet metal dents), and no rust anywhere. I took an ice pick and poked around at the usual honda rust spots, and didn't even find any scale. it was all smooth metal. my first box of parts showed up 6 hours before the car deal was finalized, and more stuff is on the way.

initial teardown:

it got a bath at the coin wash:

the motor was mocked up:

http://a.imageshack.us/img843/8210/civic4.jpg

and THIS is why I had no problem spending $750 on a wagon without a motor...

http://a.imageshack.us/img843/5645/civic1.jpg

all the trim was pulled, in anticipation of the color change. yes, at this point, the color of choice is......tangerine.

http://a.imageshack.us/img828/8229/45183126.jpg

the front crossmember is in place, awaiting the heim joints and additional bracing.

http://a.imageshack.us/img375/397/75365866.jpg

the wires are pulled for the tuck.

http://a.imageshack.us/img90/1457/23149505.jpg

the dash is pulled for wire placement, and color change. the doo-doo brown interior needs to go too.

http://a.imageshack.us/img529/2295/98439583.jpg

the engine thats getting built is disassembled and ready for internals.

more work on the crossmember.

the heims are 3/4", so a 3/4" bolt was drilled out and tapped. that way, the 3/4" heim screwed onto the torsion rod, by way of the bolt/spacer.
http://a.imageshack.us/img843/2736/session6003.jpg

the stainless steel high mis-alignment spacers are 3/4" to 1/2" and 2" wide.
http://a.imageshack.us/img841/7266/session6004.jpg

http://a.imageshack.us/img820/736/session6005.jpg

the tabs were cut and tacked in place.

http://a.imageshack.us/img818/2701/session6009.jpg

http://a.imageshack.us/img638/1647/session6010.jpg

more gussets and triangulation is planned, we just ran out of time for this night.

I picked up a set of shotpeened LS rods with ARP hardware

dobbs02si tacked together the stuff for the turbo adapter

with plenty of room for the A/C... for the old man's comfort...

I ordered the engine parts today.

it will be 1 step past a wire tuck. most of the wiring is being eliminated, along with the EFI. holley 350cfm carb, ford EDIS4, CBR coil on plug, and megajolt. the only visible wires should be the coil cap wires. its gonna look funny with a cam plug on a single cam.

cool build man. Turbo wagon ftw. Is that the original carb on the motor in the first engine shot pic? What size is it? it looks masive.

This is the cleanest ep that I have ever seen. It was a privilege to see this in person. Congrats on the Honda tuning magazine. They were talking about a badass ep on Facebook.

Cool stuff right there! Im amazed how there are sooo many more older Honda's on the road here than in VA. I have yet to find a single first gen CRV in the yard. Mostly late 80 and early 90s Accords.

thanks to the lack of a real winter and the subsequent road salt, stuff lasts a lot longer down here. I haven't found the first corroded/seized bolt on this 21 year old honda.
