Has anybody had any luck replacing the seat cover on the bottom part of the driver seat? Mines opened up a little from the back of my jeans grinding into over 8 years and I'd love to replace it but I don't know how big of a pain it is. With it being nearly $200, I'd love to talk to someone who's braver than I am and has already tried it.

Below is the part # and a link to where it's located.

for that price, just save up a bit more and buy seats off a member parting them out

I'm with you 100%. My drivers bottom seat cover has split along the mesh and looks, crap!

I have also found this part and want to know how hard it is to install.

**It's expensive but an upholstry shop would charge more to custom make and install one. Alcantra is $50 a sq/yard. Furthermore our stock seats are RECARO, it's worth maintaining :)

I found out a little more about installation.

The covers just slide off, sortof. Each underside of the lower cover has metal rods sewn into it or heavy plastic rods. The seat bottom/rails also have a parallel rod. There are metal rings stretched and bent to attach one to the other. R&R.

Here is a really good video (it's a Ford Truck) it shows the removal and installation of seat covers (real OEM ones, disassembled down to the foam; ie not fakeo stretchy autozone covers)
