Hey guys, i'm pretty lost about this and i would hopefully like to get it cleared. So, i'm in the market for a new wheel and tire set up in the near future, but am doing my homework now so i dont make a mistake later. I am looking at getting a set of Enkei RPF1's for my 02 Civic EP3. Now, i do have some questions about different offsets with this rim because i think there are some RPF1 set ups that look decent, then theres others that look like garbage. I am thinking of running a 17x7 with a + 30 offset. Now, some rpf1's have a "bubble" look to them. i want to make sure i DON'T have that look. Here's an example of a good look vs the bubble look. what do you guys think?? 17x7 +30 nay or yay?? any pictures would do some good too

Thanks

17x9.5 +38 good

17x8 +35 bad

The 'concave' only starts I believe with the 9" widths

Miah I heard runs a 17x9 +22 with a bit of negative camber. Stance is sex.

that doesn't answer his question at all haha

As long as it's 9" wide, it will have concave.
My buddy had 17x9 +45 and even at that high of an offset it had the look you want.
Though a +45 wont fit on an ep.

It'd have to be +35 and lower.

posted from one of the members on HT, this is exactly what i mean with this "bubble" look

"i know exactly what he means by "bubble" look

the inside spokes arent completely flat on the second picture.

i think on the rpf1 that is attributed to the width more than the offset.
the wider the wheel the flatter the spokes
i dunno why that is. i've never seen 17x7 or 17x7.5 rpf1 with flat spokes(if someone has please enlighten me)

bottom line if you want to get rpf1 with flat spokes
you have to get the wider sizes and smaller offset

imo it's not worth the extra weight just to get flat spokes, but to each his own.

im also in the market for rpf1
looking for 17x7 +45 or 17x7.5 +48 (5x114.3)"

Cool yeah my friend was on the market for rpf1's for a while
and from what I've learned from him is that the flat look doesn't start till 9"

Yup you need 9's or wider. Also offset doesn't affect the spokes when you go 9''+. The only part that changes on a 9"'+ RPf1 is basically just the center part where the lug nut holes are. Lower offset more material. Higher offset less material, but the spokes stay the same. Anything below a 9" width RPF-1 wheel will have the "bubble" look to it no matter what size or offset it is. And i believe 9's or wider are only available in 17's or higher.

yeppp that's too bad, i wonder why flat spokes only are 9"+
im just sucking it up and buying 17x7.5
i'd rather have lighter wheels.

and lol OP you posted this on HT and here. you're welcome =]

Thanks for the info guys, now i know what has to be done....good thing i did my homework before making a HUGE mistake. So here's the big question.....17x7 + 30 or 16x8 + 38???? with the 16's, i could run a real nice beefy tire, like a 225/50, but with the 17's i dunno....what you guys think?

depending on look or performance you're looking for
I'd do the 16x8 and run a fat tire.

id do 17 with 225/45

but thats just me

smaller sidewall but not too small and the wheel size stays close to stock still (04-05 stock size)
