View Full Version : What is this cable? See pic
Hi guys,
I've been having problem with my interior light not coming on when doors are open, & how my front wiper setting for "intermittent" isn't working.
So I tried to look around for any blown fuse, right below the fuse box, to the right of the battery, I found this 1 cable that may look like a ground cable, that doesn't go anywhere...
Just wondering if anyone know what & where is it supposed to connect?
See pic, thanks

That is the grounding cable for the chassis. IT IS IMPERATIVE that you replace it, if not you run the risk of blowing alot of the electronics out due to ground loops and reverse voltage feeds.
Where does it connect to? Do you think whoever worked on my starter might have to move it/cut it in any way?

It goes directly to the negative/ground terminal on your battery, as it is now all your chassis electronis/electrics are grounding through another route, again it will eventually take out something rather costly. Repair it ASAP ! ! ! ! ! !
Aye aye sir! hey can you confirm for me that this is what I need (#8)

That would be the harness, but I wouldnt waste the cash on it, 50$ ouch! Just put a new end on the existing cable, or run by a auto stereo shop and get a hank of 8gauge cable with ends and replace the cut off ground. Heck you could even create your own grounding kit from the 8gauge stuff(what I do with every vehicle I have owned).
Thank you sir. Yeah I'll stop driving my car for awhile until I get this taken care of.
You meant, this kind of stuff right? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8439_JL-Audio-XA-BLKPW8-6.html

yes but it is far cheaper to buy a bunch of cable and loose ends and cut to length, and then install the ends.
Got it fixed! thanks alot boss
