View Full Version : EP3 2 seater neater?

As the title states, anyone like the idea of the EP3 being a 2 seater? Now I am not talking about omitting the rear seats. I was thinking more along the lines of having a bench pocket/cubby deal back there just like the CRZ's cabin. See photo for reference:

http://www.goldenrider.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/honda-cr-z-back-side-view-2.jpg

Would be nice if a company/vendor out there would make one for our cars. The material could be carbon fiber and or smoked lexan. I just like the idea of having a 2 seater hatch minus the "stripped" look of omitting the rear seats. With this option the car would look as if it came that way from the factory. Worst comes to worst ie. nobody makes said kit for the EP3, will the CRZ's rear bench cabinet thingy fit in the EP3 with little to no issue?

thats just a waste of space in my opinion , if anything id like to see something the jdm eg6 rear seats.. two bucket seats in the back and a rear center console

Y U BUY HATCH IF YOU NO WANT HATCH?!
Seriously though, those sort of defeat the purpose of having a hatchback, in my mind. I love that i can fold down one or both sides of the seat and fit a studio setup in there for transport.

They would fold down for storage of bigger items and the cubbys themselves can hold groceries, self defense items, etc.

Only thing practicality wise one is losing is being able to carry 2-3 passengers in the rear which I hardly ever do and even then Id prefer not to. I dont like taking more than one passenger in any of my cars.

I like this option vs. taking out the rear seats, not a fan of the stripped look...at least at the moment. With this cubby bench it would appear as if the car came this way from the factory just like the CRZ. And thus make the EP3 a 2 seater, something Id prefer.

Self defense items? What is it with you and this fear you have? If the Iron Man suit were a reality and available for retail sale... would you own one? Maybe the suit case version to fit back there?

I agree. You have a hatch. Use it...

Lol, this made me think "if he was doing this over at MSF.org they would've banned him by now."

The rear seats just need to be taken out and a platform fabricated, it really increases cargo area and keeps the amount of free loaders out of your ride!

OP: I would be interested to see a solution that still allowed you to use the full cargo space if you wanted to.
If you could still fold down the ...whatever you put in to replace the OEM back seats, that'd be pretty badass I think.
Like talon said, you could always fab up a new platform to cover the hole left by the back seats, integrate it so that it looks smooth from the rear passenger area floorpan back through the hatch.
That could be nice!

I've went so long having my back seats put down, I already feel like i have a 2 seater haha.

I guess it would be interesting to see what someone could fabricate, but I wouldn't want it. I like having an open - "there's so much more room for activities".

1. Yet you contribute to these so called useless threads on a daily basis, gtfo altezza boy.

2. Yes this, just gotta find a fabricator. More often than not everyone wants to hop in the party wagon (EP3) and who am I deny friends when my ride can accommodate. I could always says no but the question comes up why? Truth is I cant stand people in the back seat making my carpet dirty, touching the glass/headliner, etc. Having one passenger in the front is enough and at least then I can keep an eye on them.

3. Yup just like the CRZ's rear arrangement.

I use my hatch 24/7. Daily driven to and from work, drive bys, grocery getter, bang hatch (for sex face making sessions with relaxation assistants/head specialists)

We arent talking about losing storage space here...just turning the car into a 2 seater so only one lucky passenger trying to bum a ride can roll with me.

The rear of the cabin can carry anything and everything except those pesky humans who eat, sleep, and shet.

Fold down seats, transport washing machine. Fold up seats, transport peoples.
I love my hatch. I wouldn't remove the back seats, although mine have been down for weeks.

looks neat. seats don't look comfortable. would probably be expensive to convert the original backseats.
i have my back seats down 90% of the time anyways. i usually drive alone or with one other person.

i heard it was bad to leave your seats folded down all the time. like it creases the fabric or makes the cushion less "cushy (?)"

I highly doubt that... Maybe if the rears had bigger bolsters, but they don't, they're pretty flat.
I fold mine down occasionally and for long periods of time (so they don't always bake in the sun)... They're 8 years old now and they're like new.

*Update*

So I went over to Kustom Kreations today in Oakland.

Talked to the owner Giovanni, he quoted $400 to construct a replica of the CRZ's rear bench cubby. Material will be either carbon fiber or smoked lexan. Thinking about going with the smoked lexan. My plan is to leave the cushion backing but swap out the bench and ditch the seatbelts. I can do the backing as well for an additional $200 so $600 total for everything (thats including materials/labor). What do you guys think in terms of price? I think the pricing isnt bad. And at the end of the day the cabin imo would look pretty dank, as if the car came this way from the factory ie. 2 seater. Or maybe I can just have a flat panel bench with no pockets? Yay or nay? Just looking for feedback. Thanks

Not a bad price at all. Im kinda jealous. It's all up to you. It's your car and no one elses. If I had to do it, it would be in carbon fiber, but I also don't have that kind of money.

i remember seeing a member remove the rear seats and put 2 more bucket seats in the back, making it a 4 seater. it was the sexiest thing i ever saw and would love to do that one day.

Thanks for the input, I am partial to the CF option as well. Supposedly from what I have been told lexan scratches/shows scratches easily.
