Cruise control problem

The other night I went to use it and set it at 70. When I set it it wouldn't stay set. I hity gas pedal and it would move at all. The only way I could get it to unstick was to hit the breaks. Any clue what's up with it?

Check the throttle and cruise cables under the hood. Make sure they don't have too much slack in them and see if they're sticking at all.
