Went out last weekend to a semi-car show, and while there chatting about modifications, someone had told me i also need to look at getting the intake manifold as well. I know im new to modifying cars but is replacing the intake manifold a legit mod or is it an alternative to replacing the airbox ?

intake manifolds are something to do after all of the basic bolt ons. and if you're on a k20a3 still it would be a waste of money really. any intake mani other than the rbc is a waste of money unless you're making BIG power.

no, it is separate from the airbox. Upgrading the intake manifold can be expensive and only provides a very small gain. It is only worth it if you already have a modified engine and are looking to squeeze every last bit of power out of it. Basically, for the money, there are other mods that will have a much larger effect on performance.

A prc intake manifold mated to a maxbore tb and hondata IMG on a swapped k24a1 head and stage 1 skunk2 camshafts inserted. Yeah it can get pretty pricey to mod.

So for the sake of argument what other mods would you suggest for an N/A build on my stock k20a3 motor?

Start by throwing away the a3.

Start by throwing away the a3.

would going with a rsx motor be a decent swap ? or would you suggest the k24 ? either way my concern is the cost

If you want cost effective, k24a2 is honestly it. Tq, hp, and more responsive to mods.

Unless you want boost , JRSC r makes good power.

Buy 04EP3HATCH's JRSC!!! That's the best intake manifold there is for our EP3s.

k24a2 is what i got. its great for NA, but not cost effective. If i could go back i would probably have just got a turbo for the k20a3. or if you want do go NA. the most cost effective method would probably be a k24a1 with either a a2 head, or vtec killer setup. or if you want to be really bad ass, k24a1 vtec killer and turbo.
