As the title states, my passenger front tire blew out on the freeway this evening.

:mconfused:

After 100K miles, my Toyos finally gave out on me.

Good thing I didnt lose control on the freeway when it blew out.

*Rule of thumb, always check your tires for wear and dont neglect them. My tires were going bald hella days ago and I should have changed em.

Good advice. Looks like uneven wear, too. Over-inflated? Camber? At any rate, that's an amazingly long time for tires.

I dont think so, always had them inflated to 33 PSI.

The camber was set to -1.5

And yeah they lasted a good bit before this occurred.

Glad your ok. looks like your toe needs to be adjusted, camber wear wouldnt be as severe.

Thanks guys.

Changing a tire on the freeway shoulder was nerve racking, thought I might get side swiped by rubberneckers and or distracted drivers.

I hurried up so I could get the hell outta there.

Also remember to check your spare's tire pressure, often neglected but all so important. My spared was low on air but it still got me home, 30 miles away.

Getting new tires today.

you need an alignment very badly, your toe is way off which caused the tire to wear like that, I also wouldn't be surprised if your other tires are just as bad. If you just get new tires without an alignment they will end up looking just like that one

1. If I am not mistaken toe wears out tires right? Well more than camber? I still wanna run -1.5 in front and -.75 in back, what do you reccomend for toe setting?

2. Thanks, yeah I got good use out of em for sure.

3. Toyo Extensa HP, size is 215/45/17

4. Id be down to try out some Yokos but as stated above, my tires are 17.

5. Thanks, my new tires are coming in Wednesday. Ordered some Continental Extreme DWS.

The Continental Extreme Contact DWS features much more grooves (voids) in the tread blocks, which allows for better evacuation of water, and better grip in snow. This is the all season, all weather version of the DW. Even though both tires are related, they actually have different rubber compounds.

*For those interested in new all season tires. Cant wait to get these bad boys mounted and balanced.

yea toe wears out tires extremely fast compared to camber, set the toe to oem spec. I am lowered and set the toe to oem spec, 0 problems for many many miles

Yep... Extensa. For those with America's Tires nearby, they can hook you up.
