Curious if anyone knows the output of our alternators? Thinking the sub/amp I am about to install is going to draw more than the alternator can steadily put out.

Voltage wise is always around 13.8 ish

I meant to ask how many amps the alternator puts out. I'm sorry I should have been a little more specific.

The service manual says under a load (headlights high beam on, brake lights, blower motor ETC) it should be 60amps or more.

Usually they allow some overhead so was hoping for an actual number and seriously hoping 60amps is not the max. I had read that 90amps was the max but I haven't found anyone else to back that number.

Sorry bro no max number was given. Only a min.

Also, remember that it's highly unlikely your amp will be drawing the full rating. I think a safe number is something like 1/3 of the rated number, but hopefully Chad or someone will chime in.

I did a test back in school on my alternator. I used our online automotive database (Honda ISIS) and they said my alternator is rated at 80 amps. I tested mine at 48 so I had to replace it. It didn't quite say what the output was except what it was rated at. You would most likely have to hook up some sort of machine to see how much amps it's putting off for your specific alternator...
