Just got back from a walk-thru job I'm gonna be bidding...
Came back and the secretary said I got a "package" from FedEx.

Bid documents? No.
Contract? No.
Floor Boxes? NO.

WTF?!

So I see this on my desk. And see this thing.
Open it up and I got these new paperweight:

My importer guy came thru. Got them for a STEAL. Going to remove the bushings and get these suckers Powerdercoated some time this winter. Next order is gonna be 06 RSX-S knuckles. Trying to get a DC5R suspension up front.

When you order the knuckles brand new from honda... they come with the wheel bearings already in or are they a seperate purchase?

i was told by a VERY reliable source, that when you do order a knuckle assembly, you do in fact, get new bearings installed in them. along with lower ball joints.

Retail was 275.00 not including shipping.
Shipping was an addition flat rate of $35.

My price was half retail including shipping.
This is my 6th purchase from the guy (honda, acura, and subaru)... So i've gotten to a point where I just phone him what I'm looking for and a couple hours later I get a phone call saying either he has it or give him two more days to locate something. I don't pay for shipping anymore.

hahaha.

Its like everything else in business. My job has taught me that to obtain the "good deals" you have to establish a relationship with vendors. However, once that relationship is established you as a buyer have to back it up... you ask for a part you better pay for a part. This gives you leverage as a customer because when the vendor receives a call from you he can expect 85% he's going to make a sale that same day.

So i guess what I'm saying is that anyone can establish the same relationship with any vendor.

Be sure to double check the process your powdercoater uses and ask for a lower temperature compound. I've heard horror stories of aluminum parts getting overheated, altering the aging of the alloy. This is typically attributed to poorly controlled ovens. It usually doesn't matter too much on things like valve covers or intake manifolds, but it is asking for trouble on wheels and suspension arms.
