well guys as a lot of you know ive been peicing together a nice little turbo setup for my A3, but for some dumb reason ive been contemplating just selling the kit and picking up a k20z1 swap from a freind at an auto dismantler and using that for a while. im just worried my a3 wont give me what im after and that the engine is a little tired (122000 miles), i mean it still runs phenominal but im worried on the boost again it wont, i mean i was 11 psi on the jrsc setup and it still ran like a champ, i dont know what to do :( help me out ephatch!

If it were me and I was going to run that much boost on a somewhat tired a3, I would just rebuild the bottom end in a more stout manner. Ya a z1 is the better route, but who knows what problems come with that motor as well. In all honesty, you could very well throw that turbo on your a3 as it sits, and get another 122+ k on it without problem, or you the exact opposite lol throw a rod thru the block and than die a little inside. Bottom line, if you're gonna do it a turbo build up, do it right

don't know why you couldn't boost the A3 with the miles. as long as you maintain it, it should last a while!

i'd just do it like you were before, run the a3 til it dies and then drop something else right in its place.

now, if you could pick up that Z1 andddd keep the turbo kit, i'd say to take that route!

Can you afford to go without the car for a while if something like that does go wrong? People act like "scoop up another motor" but it can take some time to do a swap and find a well-priced engine.

Get the z1. You will like it a lot better when you decide to boost it down the road.

Turbo the A3 for now, Dan. Then save up for a K24a1 and swap everything onto that.
