Wassup fellas, kinda need help here. Long story short:

Took my moms to church this morning, drove back home BATTERY indicator lit up and TEMP gauge shot up. Stopped the car, knew it had to be my drive belt. Low and behold it was the drive belt ripped up. Drove back home slowly and made it home (2 minutes of driving it). NOW here's the issue:

Original belt seemed to be Gateway belt by the numbers on the belt (assuming previous owner put that)
I went and got the OEM Drive belt from Honda (I believe they call it A/C Compressor or something like that)

Went home and replaced the belt. Started it up fine, and 2 minutes later squeaking. Then the belt began to skip! I took it apart again, made sure way the belt positioning was correct, and grooves were in. Skipped again. Went back to Honda and spoke to them there (I know all of them), spoke to the M. Tech as well. I thought the OEM belt was a tad bigger than Gateway's because of how we measured it. It wasn't a big difference, just a tad, but not enough to make it noticeable.

1) M. Tech figured the idle pulley might be bad, or ceased, and might need to replace it. Bought a new idle pulley, came home hoping to get my car out, and I find out the pulley on my car is not OEM. It's black, plastic-like material (light weight pulley?) and not the heavy silver/chrome one from Honda. So I dont know now if that makes a difference.

2) Now inspecting the tensioner. I can move the tensioner by HAND back and forth! Usually you need a wrench or tool to move the tensioner to loosen the belt. I also see a piece of metal broken off on the top. Nowhere that might seem dangerous, but it still broke off.

My question is, is the difference in pulley making the belt skip? or is the tensioner f*cked and needs to be replaced? I will post videos.

and antisocial, do you think the tensioner is whats causing the belt to skip? Seems like a pretty easy answer, but I figured it might be the pulley, etc. Also, its the A3 motor.

that tensioner is definitely shot, saw your vid. check for seized pulleys while you're in there. all the other pulleys should spin freely by hand except the crank pulley.
also check for end play in the bearings of your idler pulley, water pump, etc.

UPDATE: Car running great . Tensioner was replaced and the belt. Was a little bit of a pain to take 1 of the bolts on the tensioner because of the mount in the way. Got it out and all is replaced. Thanks for the help and confirmation.
