I saw on the news this morning that apparently there is a recall of airbag inflators on 2001-2003 Civics (among other cars). I was wondering if anyone knew if this affects out cars too?

I found this article from Honda...
https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/Documentum/Recall_Press%2FRecall_Press_Release_0000030.pdf
but the problem is, they don't list specific model/submodels in the list. I went onto honda's recall website and they ask for your VIN to look for recalls, but after trying my VIN number 10 times, it still doesn't want it. I'm guessing since we have the weird British vin number (SHHEP3....etc) it doesn't recognize it.

So does anyone know if the recall affect our cars too? I'm gonna run down to the stealership later because i need to get some parts later today, so i'll ask them too when I get there.

if you read the bulletin...at the bottom of the last page..just give them a ring and ask if it cover's the Si.

yea i went to the stealership today and talked to them. They said that they have heard there is a recall, what the issue is, got the parts..but don't know what exact cars its affecting. He said the same thing to me that they would mail the original owner about the recall...but since im not the original owner, they said check back in a week and they will confirm it

would be great if someone knows about details and post them up. Would like to know if the US Ep3 or model year got the problem too.

I got a US Ep3 airbag system in my track tool car.

Interesting
I drove my co workers 01-05 civic and I noticed the air indicator light was on.
She said that that light has been on for years and she never knew what it was.

I assume this recall is the exact answer

My SRS light was on for my 01 civic and I got into a major accident and it didn't deploy.

I've also been wondering about this. Except, I got one of these back in the summer for my 2002 Civic EX, before I had my EP3. I was trying to figure out if that recall applied to Si's and now there's this one too.

my 04 ep3 airbag light is on as of about two months ago. its not much of a bother to me, but the thought did cross my mind to check it out. i figured it was possibly a bad fuse, or short somewhere. no worries i dont plan on crashing my baby anytime soon.

To those of you with airbag lights on, go get your srs system check out. The recall is for airbags that will shoot shrapnel into the driver if the airbags deploy. The recalled airbags will not display a srs light on the cluster.

probably becuase our EP3s were manufacturered in the UK. The EM2s were in the us.

My SRS light has been on forever. I had it replaced 2 times under warranty and it came back on outside of the warranty period. Dealer said they tested the unit itself and it is fine but no idea why that light stays on. That was about 50k miles ago when the car was still under its extended warranty.
