When I put my 02 civic si in reverse and backup or if i just roll backwards i hear a grinding/whailing sound. Anyone know what the cause of this might be? Its only coming from the back passenger wheel. I thought maybe breakpads were low but if thats it wouldnt the sound persist even when driving forwards?

Its normal, its how they made the reverse gear, I couldint go into details but the ep isint the only car that does this.

Check your brake pads if they are still good your wheel bearings might be going south....

the normal noise a Honda manual trans makes in reverse sounds like a remote control car. Metal grinding sounds like a brake pad problem

the whining is due to the reverse gear being a straight cut gear. when metal on metal is prob the brake pad

kind of late, two weeks, but my car has been doing this for months. I know my brake pads are going, I have corsport and a search for brake pads up on other tabs right now, so when I do order them, hopefully tonight, I'll let you know if the problem persists. Unless you already fixed the problem. post if you have, as will I.
